i got into it late in the year. i liked it a lot. it's a little too much because it's a double album and every double album could have about 5 songs trimmed entirely or partially to scale it down to one disc. i haven't listened to it in a couple weeks now, but i've also not listened to anything from 2005 since early january. i'm sure it'll get some good rotation with me again.

I still lurv it as well. And stand by all my comments in this thread.

I alos dug up The Scepter of Tight, and will be wielding it with a strong hand.

I mostly listen to the second disc, but I still like it quite a bit. "Let It Ride" and "If I Am A Stranger" are tremendous songs.

I prefer Jacksonville City Nights of all the 2005 RA releases.

I can't disagree with this thesis, I love the guy's albums but he was a bit too certain in 2005. I enjoyed the first two records quite a lot (they made my best of), but 29? I've listened to it half a dozen times and it just won't click. It's not really horrible or anything, but it smacks of self-indulgent laziness. It's like he took that old heuristic from school about 'always going with your first response' on a test and applied through his whole career. Sometimes it works and he gets A's, while others, like the "test" in December, maybe would have benefited from reconsideration before releasing it. Give it the ol' once over next time, please.

Brilliant! I love Ryan Adams but haven't bothered picking up 29 yet because I didn't want to ruin the joy found in Cold Roses. Totally on the same page with you here.

Which is disappointing because I think it's a cool idea. Still, I'll take your recommendation and not buy it.
