I know, it's not over yet, but insert opinions here. So far so good; always open to a new show with the potential for lots of music references.

The show has Eric Bogosian; that's pretty sweet. And I don't know what you meant, Loog.

so far...... meh. Let's hope the future shows have more depth. I will give it the benefit of the doubt since it's only the pilot.

That kid sounds like John Mayer. Why do people want to emulate him?

Maybe because the guy's talented. Not for nothin', but there are worse people to emulate.

John Mayer is talented, but seriously, that breathy voice he and 100s of the singer/songwriter wannabes that follow his lead irk me to the MAX, irk me to the MAX, irk me to the MAX!

Indeed. Meh overall, but hopefully it stays on long enough to develop. As for the Mayer similarities, I don't know what else they would have in Wayne's place. Certainly cheaper and easier to reproduce visually than a full band, and enough mainstream popularity not to turn off your average network viewer. I'll be watching next week.

Didn't watch it, but the previews made it sound like it was about a label talent man stumbling onto a new artist and being a savior. Do we really need more self-congratulating label reps?

Spoon's "Agony of Laffitte" came to mind every time I saw the preview.

I recorded this instead of Boston Legal, which I love. Shatner is the man.

I finally got around to watching the first 2 episodes, and I thought it was clever with some good writing that pretty much laid out a bunch of obvious possible twists.

I say that this is pretty cool being a music fan that doesn't see much about the industry first hand. I also like the message they are sending about supporting the little label instead of 'Goliath Records.'

After that other Jews thread where I solicited opinions on their other albums, I bought American Water, and I think it's better than Tanglewood Numbers. Malkmus is definitely more prevalent in AW, which is a good thing in my mind.

So yes, I think you should go buy it.

American Water, possibly one of the greatest American albums in the past 10 years. Everyone should own or at least listen to that record. Starlite Walker should be considered as well.
