"Big Time" is now the official song of the WWE. While it's one of his slighter songs, the irony of a tune about the foolishness of excess and hubris being used for a wrestling theme must deeply amuse St. Pete, not to mention add to his bank account. Not as silly as "Lust For Life" being a Carnival Cruise theme, but silly enough.

It's a very odd choice for WWE. I doubt most professional wrestling fans even know who Peter Gabriel is.

Anyway, I'm going to see one of those WWE PPVs over a friend's house tonight because there's nothing else to do over here. We get to see them for free at a local Buffalo Wild Wings too.

I bet 98% of the fans 26 and older know this song, though.

And Vince McMahon knows marketing...hence why he could care less the theme of this song, the fact that Gabriel was in Genesis, or that Sledgehammer used to be considered the best video EVAR!!

He cares about bank, and he's making it.

JYD's theme song was "another one bites the dust".

. . .and everytime I see the thread about "The 4 Horsemen" (early 90s band), I think of The Nature Boy. . .

Well, considering that it's all a farce, I wouldn't be surprised if the choice is entirely tongue-in-cheek.

I know Ric Flair and the Anderson Bros.( Ole and Arn) made up 3/4 of the orginally old NWA four horsemen, but I can for the life of me remember who the fourth was. I remember that there were several different "four horsemen" line up. But who was the fourth Orginal horsemen?

While correct in filling in the missing Horseman in his lineup, the revolving spot was Ole's.
So, Ole left and Lex Luger came in
then Luger left and Barry Windham came in.
Etc..

Ad agency meeting regarding use of "Lust For Life"

Smarmy-ass schill #1: "Hey, you know, looking over these lyrics, I think maybe this has something to do with heroin addiction. Is that gonna fly in middle America?"

Smarmy-ass schill #2 "How many people are gonna notice THAT? It's a great sounding old song -- combines nostalgia with a slight hint of rebellion. It's all about packaging the 'tude."

Smarmy-ass schill #1: "Okay, but I bet it will bite us in the ass five or six years down the road."

Smarmy-ass schill #2: "We won't be on this contract then."

I've only heard one song that WWE's used to promote something in the past few years that I liked and that was something by The Soundtrack Of Our Lives.

Anything's better than this shitty nu-metal Seether stuff, even if it is Peter Gabriel.
