Yep, yesterday I got an icy email saying that the divorce papers were in my mailbox. Today, I'm going to visit the campus lawyers for free and see if everything is kosher, protect my jimmies, sign the shit, and get it the hell out of my hands.

After feeling so good for a few days, something like that is a little bit like a kick in the balls.

Oh well, singlehood's already treating me better than I've been treated in a while.

Good luck with everything. Divorce is never easy or fun.

I say again that the distinct possibility exists that she has done you a favor, dispite how it feels.

I hope your mental recovery happens as fast too.

Considering that FT has already said I'm more fun, and considering that I actually feel like girls might find me a little bit attractive, I'm starting to come around to your way of thinking.

Well don't rush it. After you sign that thing, you're just coasting anyway. Good news is, you're on Your time now. Stay busy, don't bury it, yada yada. Make yourself happy.

Yeah I think that's an achievable goal.

Hammer, meet nail. See his head? Get 'im!

Yeah, it just took me a long, long time to discover that.

You are well on your fine sir.

One of life's great curveballs. It's amazing how you can think you know some one so well, and then wake up one day and say, "who are you?"

Since I'm suddenly a smoker again, is it bad that my lungs feel sooty after this weekend?

no. Since I really only smoke more than one or two a day unless I go out now, I feel your pain. I am now conscious that cigs play a major role in hangovers.

Saturday night was a homebrew party, the guy puts my operation to shame . . .

About 4 10-gallon fermenters in action, and he had 3 5-gallon kegs ready and going in the kegerator all night. I got home about 5:30 AM.

My brother-in-law has a phd in evolutionary biology and is all about home brewing beer. I called him to make sure he wasn't getting a divorce.

consider this a warning - the divorce process is really horrible. my ex and i were on great terms by the time we got our divorce (we'd both moved on and were great friends). it was eleven months between separation and divorce and we still cried like a couple of bitches when we got the paperwork finalized. with the exception of deaths in my family/immediate friends, i'd say that it was the single worst day of my life. it's been seven months and we're still affected by it.

you might dislike her a whole lot, but prepare yourself for all the feelings that will inevitably flood you when you're in court.

Good luck, dude. You sound like your having more fun, anyway. This might sound shitty, but consider yourself lucky all this business didn't happen when you were deep in the PhD. It's gonna be all work and play for you now.

Well, considering she already took the bed, and most other furnishings/appliances - if I recall prior Colin, Ph.D., posts correctly - I don't think so.

Then again, that new bed that Colin, Ph.D., (so as not to be confused with Colin, U.K.), bought was bought at a time when he was still technically married. So, she could ask for that.

And get it.
