this is your first dinner party? if you've avoided them for this long, you're a lucky man.

No way, man. Dinner parties can be fun with the right guests.

No, it means you get fed for the cost of bringing a cheap bottle of red with you.

I do understand your trepidation, ryan, as this has become my main social activity of late.

Think about like this: you can get as wasted and have as much fun as you would usually have, but the choff and hooch are better and teh women are dressed nicer.

AND, you can always reserve the right to start EXTREMELY INNAPROPRIATE conversation topics, or massively insult the host and hostess...though that's pretty much been my mo since I was going to 5th grade dances

I go to them all the time. They're fun but I might be an old man too.

my first "official" one. I mean, i've been to parties where there is dinner, but never labeled a "dinner party."

Are you going to wear the sweater with the lace collar? How many petticoats will be under your hoop skirt?

You're getting married in a couple of months, my man.
Get used to it.

Dude, the dinner party is a good thing.

In class monday, a prof asked "what do you students do over the weekend? Is there such a thing as a typical student weekend?" I realized that 80% of those people go out all 3 nights, get fugged up, and stumble into monday feeling like a wet bar rag. I, on the other hand, tend to have dinner with friends at least one night (you have other couple friends, makes things easy), and then do jack shit the other nights.

Don't forget to belch as loudly as possible when done with the meal. It's a complimentary gesture.

You don't want to insult your host.

Just take a magazine with you. You'll never get invited again.

I actually have a great story about me going to a dinner party but I can't tell you it because it's just too funny and someone might steal the story.

If only I could contact Larry David I'd have a writers credit on the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, guarenteed.
