Interviewing this week to advance a show here in town next Wednesday. I've got a decent amount of stuff to talk w/ Scott Lucas about - he's been a great, candid interview in the past, which helps immensely - but if anyone's got a question to offer, I'll gladly pose it and post the story after it's published.

Appreesh.

how much do they really love rocket from the crypt? (they cover "ditch digger" all the time.) or maybe you can use that information to ask another question.

and ask him if he liked my dj set at the brian jonestown massacre after-party. he was apparently leaning over the booth's wall peeking at my records while i was turned around.

Here's one: What's Vince McMahon's daughter like in the sack?

Man, I must've missed something.

Clarify, please Bobbo.

I think FT is making reference to Triple H. I think.

Just a weak attempt at a silly rasslin' joke. The daughter of WWE head honcho is (or was) married to a rassler who went by the handle "Triple H."

Love Local H. I have a as of yet dubbed vid I recorded of their show they did locally. Very cool guys. If I had to ask them some questions:

-Now that White Stripes, Black Keys, et al, are using the 1-2 setup, do you feel like people are copping yr initial idea? (not that they were the first, but certainly one of the more visible) Follow up--if not, then what would you say to someone who's never heard you, as to how you seperate yourself from the pack?

-You guys tour extensively, and the obvious choice would be to put out a live album to commemorate said touring, but with your open taping policy, don't you think it is a moot point? Grateful Dead and Phish do so, to only be pointed at and called a merchandising machine. Why would yours not be viewed as such.

Got it. Funny thing is, I knew that but for whatever reason the joke completely escaped me. That one's on me FT.

And FWIW, I'd wager Hunter and I differ on the merits of li'l Steph getting her funbags enlarged to a monstrous degree. Plus, a part of me suspects daddy encouraged it for solely business reasons, which is creepy any way you look @ it/them.

Ask them if they recognize the irony in the fact that a band doomed to obscurity themselves wrote a song called "Whatever Happened To PJ Soles?"

And then ask them if they've ever heard of the band Code Blue, who asked the (more or less) same question 20 years ago (ie: "Whatever happened to Freddy and the Dreamers?").

Then talk about how fleeting and illusory fame is, how quickly time passes, and the small merits of doing something just for the sake of one's own sense of accomplishment.

Then spark up the pipe and bang a chunky local groupie with bad skin.

I got into this when I interviewed Lucas for CMJ in 2004. They held PJ Soles up as being symbolic of what happened to them and every other pop cultural footnote that still has to grind out an existence after their star fades.

Good stuff. These guys "get it."

Ask Scott what is with a Prairie Cartel release. It is his little side project with the boys from the now defunct Chicago band Caviar. I saw him scream his ass off at Darkroom a few months back and we loved it.
