i've always wanted to sing in it, once i learned to play guitar.. and i'd just play something acoustic, probably alone.. but i never learned, and never tried out. i could have gotten someone to play for me while i sang. but i don't have enough faith in my singing voice to perform in front of my school.

it's just depressing it's my last year in high school and i'll always be thinking about what would have happened if i would have just tried.

oh well. i need a child, so i can tell them to take every chance they have.

sorry. pointless thread. i'm baking a piece of french bread pizza and reading wuthering heights and singing by myself instead of putting myself out there.
goddamnit.

You could always shoot ping pong balls into the audience.

I wanted to perform "The Song That Doesn't End" at my HS talent show until forced off stage.

That never happened. I still cry about it. The pain will never go away.

I want to perform "Big Houses" or "The Righteous Will Fall" or "Sun Goes Down" but I would have needed someone to play guitar, and i'd invite Johnny Hott to come play the drums. It would be cute if he did.

I can't. I only smoke when I know i'm staying out really late, like on Saturday nights, because I don't leave my house until 9 or later as it is usually. I don't have a curfew but if I go out early I feel guilty coming home too late.

I'll just finish my book and cry over that tonight.
Maybe one day I can compensate for wasting this opportunity by singing onstage in a club setting or something. We'll see in the future.

my senior year, a drummer and I got together and did some real spazz rock ish for our talent show...actually it was our "gong show" because if the act was bad they'd get gonged off a'la the old gong show on TV. We fuckin rocked, I just turned up the fuzz and today I think we kinda sounded like early White Stripes (I'm just stroking my own ego now). I was on my knees, playing with my teeth, went and hit the gong with my guitar...all while wearing a tuxedo since I had another gig to play afterwards in the mall by the big christmas tree.

another year I remember a few friends and I did a 7 bass player performance...that was just weird.

move to PA and I'll start a band with you.

i danced to "cool it now" by new edition for my fifth grade talent show. me and three black girls. those were the days...

i agree with you, c.polka... i want to have a kid so i can tell him/her to learn something cool, like piano or ballet or sports. i quit everything when i was a kid and as a result, i'm not good at any one thing. well, maybe one thing, but i didn't learn that when i was a kid, that's for sure.

dude, don't sweat it. when you are ready, find an open mic night at a coffeehouse or (when you're 21) a bar and sing there.

Have you ever performed in public before? I used to have a hard time doing it but now when I do it I don't even notice the other people anymore becuase I'm so focused on what I'm playing. Public performance is just like most things, the more practice you have at it the better you will get.

Playing in a talent show can be fun, me and my friends played zz top's Le Grange at ours. Plus at most high school talents shows there are lots of shity acts that make you look better in comparison.

8th grade talent show me and a couple of friends put together an impromptu ska band and covered krumpets and scones "what a drag," an ode to transvestite love. it was a big hit. i think about it every night before i go to sleep and it makes the rest of my failures bearable. you'll do alright suffering though.
