he's the recently elected democratic governor of a southern state that voted for Bush. He makes Warner look good.

Its funny that Pat and I agree on a lot of stuff, and this kind of ramshackle group of people (Buchanan, McCain, Lou Dobbs, et al) that are just killing Bush.

It reminds me of my long loved Sam Nunn, Colin Powell, Bill Bradley, etc. coalition from the early 90's that the Clintons came and blew away. There's a storm-a-brewing folks. Bush's big mistake is this increase in spending (which, honestly, you libs should love, cant figure out why y'all dont love Bush---he is basically a Democratic president in the mold of FDR and LBJ, but that may be a little too mcuh for y'all to absorb) which sunk his Pops.

i don't think it's fair to say bush is like lbj in his spending. a democrat who wanted to craft a drug benefit would never have ran it through private insurance companies, which has created bush's medicare clusterfuck.
he's all about spending lots of money, but a good chunk of it is going to his pals and cronies (no-bid contracts in iraq and new orleans). corporate welfare ain't the same thing as welfare.
to me he just seems cravenly political. like he'll propsose big programs to get elected, boost as poll numbers, etc., but as soon as the deficit hawks push back he abandons them.

Both WW2 aqnd Vietnam were huge benefits to the Military Industrial Complex, money wise. LBJ was as bought as any politician in history by corporations. Sorry.

Well, Neoconservatives never were fiscal conservatives. They spend like Democrats, but the reason I don't like them is because they don't raise taxes to pay off the spending and they allocate tremendous amounts of money to the military (to defend us against nonexistent enemies) with little regard for social spending.

The only thing these guys have in common with FDR and LBJ is the amount of money they spend - not what they spend it on or how it should be paid off.

FDR spent tons on the military. Not exactly sure about LBJ. Miliary spending has been on a steady decline since about 55 regardless of politics. I admire your passion but some non bias research would do you good. Also FDR racked up more debt comparatively than almost anyone.
