Reading Todd's five year thread and packing up my house and finding mixes from todd, ft, opa, mojo, nakedprey, chase, radcliffe, billzebub, cotton, timmyjoe, wrongsteeple, and many others has made me think. Its been awhile since we've done an old fashion mix exchange. No YSI's -- mailed copies with artwork. And of course, REVIEWS ARE MANDATORY.

Who's up for it? It's probably good timing with lots of folks having put together year end best of's anyway.

Edit:

So far, looks like we've got:

billy g
oldbullee
z
timis
beachy
dog on wheels
drinky
dnorwood
radcliffe
billzebub
zeke the moody drifter
Vanlandingham
Nakedprey
paranoidandroid
Dalen
The Mayor of Simpleton
aFreshStart4Me
bgl3

np: Kay gees

I'm not picky about the artwork really. I'm just trying to make it a more tangible thing. I suspect the ysi mixes often get listened to once with a gee thanks token reply and then are deleted. I'd like these to generate some discussion of the mixes and bands/songs which will hopefully happen with a more tangible product and evidence that some work went into it.

I don't have a ton of time at the moment to do a mix, and unfortunately, my mixes are usually cobbled together from other people's suggestions! Good idea, though.

(I'm really a charlatan, you know.)

I have never received a mix, though I have made dozens for friends. So I am solidly in.

I bet if you put your mp3 player on random and just wrote down the first 20 songs it picked you'd probably have the basis of a decent mix.

If you don't have the time I understand...but really I think people make this harder than it needs to be. A lot of the mixes where people try too hard to fill it with obscurities end up being among my least favorite. Not that I'm not guilty of doing that myself on ocassion.

oh shit. Sorry about that song. Don't know what I was thinking there. Can't remember what the rest of the tracklist was, but hopefully it's better.

I want in on this one. I've been thinking about making a single disc mix of the Fonotone box. Or I might do something else.

I don't think its a bad song at all. I like the mix although it can be a bit much freak folk for one sitting.

np: Iron & Wine "Hickory"

alright, count me in, although I doubt I'll stick with 2005 releases. I tend to dig the older stuff on occasion.

I wasn't trying to suggest a 2005 best of required format. Mine might end up being mostly early 70's soul and funk or it might be a kitchen sink of genres and time periods. I'm not sure yet.

My vote would be to leave it up to each individual. IMO themes, best-of's, and random whatevs are all welcome.

I'm in. It's not going to feature any new tracks. More of a "tunes that have influenced my life" kinda score.

My cover will be a biodegradable, recyclable, organic paper cover for you hippies. Hopefully that will be a "tangible product."

Also, if i owe anyone mixes from last year, please PM me. You'll get one of these.
