725 points, with a disclaimer that Spoon, New Pornos, MMJ, and Sufjan made my top 30.

Josh Rouse one point outside the top 20, so my surprise at his absences was somewhat justified. Also interesting to note Trail of Dead's drop from #3 in '02 to #96 this year. I guess it would be a similar for me on a final best-of-decade list.

in conclusion, as individuals most of us have good taste, but as a whole, we blow big chunks. It only takes a couple of weak links in the chain to ruin it for EVERYONE.

Also, i don't wanna point fingers or nuthin', but who the shit voted for KAISER CHIEFS?! Come on, out with it! Identify yourselves!

I'm confused -- why are people taking credit for others' points? How does that work, again?

Because it shows quantatively how much your personal tastes reflect the consensus.

I did. You see, I heard the album and enjoyed it enough that when I compiled a year end list I found that, relative to my own tastes of course, it ranked within the Top 20.

Not to make a redundant statement, as this was discussed previouly, but I've never understood the bile that this band seems raise amongst the folks around here. It's Britpop from the same vein as The Jam, or other newer groups like The Futureheads or Dogs Die in Hot Cars. Yet for some reason, the latter two groups aren't held up as the ruination of all things like the Kaiser Chiefs. It's just odd.

Yeah, I'll defend it, too. It didn't make my top 20, but I still liked it.

I'm surprised this year's poll didn't generate more discussion. I guess I don't have anything to add either but still...kind of anticlimatic.

Nope. Probably my biggest disappointment of the year. Loved the last record (prob in my 2nd tier the year it came out), but really disliked BSB. In fact, I haven't listened to it in about 8 months. 1 or 2 standouts and the rest were so uninspired to me.

How is that Haq? And how does BSB stack up against the previous records in your opinion?

I fucking loved BSB, and it was a serious contender for #1 for a while. So, should be running out buying everyting they've made?

senator, if you liked BSB that much, there's no way you won't like the appendix. amazingly, the songs are every bit as good and any of them would have been right at home on the record.

i think you'd probably also like "down the river of golden dreams," which many people (tommy, case in point) like even better than bsb, and which is pretty similar in style. "don't fall in love with everyone you see" (one of my favorite titles ever) is definitely weaker overall, but has some devastating songs (red, lady liberty, westfall) and would not be a bad buy/download for a fan of bsb either.
