i just busted out emergency & i, i'd forgotten how excellent that record is--my enjoyment remains untainted by the travis morrison solo record. i haven't seen them mentioned much on this board lately, what are your thoughts on these guys?

Love that record, spent many summer nights blasting that on the car stereo. Always wanted Change but never picked it up.

change is allright, it's got three or four really strong tracks on it, but the rest just never really grabbed me, they seemed a lot less fun on that record.

E&I is classic. Change is pretty damn good though a bit of a grower.

Agreed, plus they were a damn good (and fun) live band.

I've got Change and Emergency. I've heard their first two aren't that great, but I'll probably pick them up if I ever see them cheap or used.

i still have much love for this record, although i don't give it that many spins these days. i think that their drummer is doing a disservice to music by no longer drumming with anyone that i've heard about. the world needs more awesome, polyrhythmic drummers.

I really enjoyed these guys as well. I was so disappointed though by that last tour they did. For some reason it seemed like the energy just wasn't there. A few tracks that ended up on Travis' solo record were originally D-Plan tracks and sounded amazing live.

His Ludacris cover IS STILL classic. Rubber band guitar or not, that shit is great.

absolutely, their drummer was fantastic, live and on record. didn't some of them start up a band people from the promise ring?

"!" isn't even worth it, but "is terrified" has some really good tracks ("academy award," "do the standing still," "thats when the party started"), you can really hear the funky dna of emergency and i.

The bassist and a couple of the guys from The Promise Ring formed Maritime.

I got Change first, so that's my fav.

Travis (esp. live) annoys almost everyone I know. Dude's got some serious dork vibes, but I dig. Course, I'm a dork.

I like all their albums but think E&I is the best.

I'm not counting the remix album and Travis' solo debacle.

E&I was/is absolutely my go to album by them, but I've been warming up to 'Travistan' as of late. I think it was overlooked.

I tried and tried with Emergency & I, but I just never warmed up to it. I too prefer Change, which I did hear after E&I.

Probably one of the better songs ever posted on this forum. (I believe I caught flack on CMJ for loving this) :)

Seriously though, I for some reason love this song. Maybe it's his delivery on the track. Post your thoughts, Aimarr.

Listening to E&I now for the first time in a while. Still got the jitters.
