Is there a song out there with your name in it that you just love -- not because your name is in it, but because it's just a great song?

But the fact that they do mention "you" makes it all that much better!

My wife is Sharon.
"My Sharona" is a helluva lot of fun when it comes on the radio.

The Elton John song "Daniel" makes me kinda uncomfortable, especially the recent BPB/Tortoise version.

So in other words, no.

once in a milwaukee bar we were having
pick the most obnoxious/inappropriate song
on the shitty jukebox
because it was obvious
the bartender would rather watch the game

i picked "cotton eye joe"
but it was the old version
without the words
doh!

this was after
"lightning crashes" by live

Does the song actually written about me count? If so, Then I'll always be fond of my encounters with MI6 for semi-immortalizing our tiff in the song "Jeff Brown". Hell, It got me written up in the pages of the New York Times for goodness sake.

They still were a pretty bad pop punk band, but If I can get past the ego-boost of thinking the song is about me, It really isn't that bad a song.

summer breeze - seals and croft:

"summer breeze makes me feel fine, blowin' through the jasmine in my mind..."

let it bleed - rolling stones:

"I was dreaming of a steel guitar engagement
When you drunk my health in scented jasmine tea
But you knifed me in my dirty filthy basement
With that jaded, faded, junky nurse
Oh what pleasant company"

And the song reached #1 at Garageband.com -- beating out MY song ("Another Day" by ChewToy) in August of 2000.

Here is Jeff's namesake song:

Listen and enjoy!

There's a Steely Dan song, I forget which one, where it sounds like they are singing "Darrin" if you listen carefully....and you're a big Steely Dan fan...and your name is Darrin.

People often like to replace Bobby with Tanner when singing Bobby McGee. I fucking hate that.
