My cousin had her first kid and named him Theodore Leo.
The kicker:
She has most certainly never heard of Ted Leo & the Pharmacists

I'm gonna buy them Hearts of Oak, just as a gag.

Anyway... YAY for my cousin Cindy and her hubby Peter!

Ted = Named for the dad's father (Theodore)
Leo = Named for the mother's father (Leonard, my uncle)

Both passed away within the last 4 years.

Sorry about the lame rhyme.
Listening to Eric B. & Rakim.
It has that effect on me, I think.

i can't seem to get my wife to agree to go with my grandfather's name - LaMoyne. LaMoyne Paris would be pimp I think.

My cousin recently went with the grandfather's-name thing and named her son Manfred.

On the other hand, when my sister had a boy four years ago, my father Herbert insisted that his grandchild not be named after him.

i'm not into that naming people after dead people business. It's a nice tribute and all, but a first name is a first name, one of the few places where uniqueness can be instilled in a person. Ted's kind of cool though.

My sons are both names after relatives who passed:
Cary (my uncle) Jerome (my grandfather)
and
Ethan (for my wife's grandmother Ethel) Vern (my wife's grandfather)

I also happen to like both of their names.

I too thought it was Whiney when I first saw it. Or that dude from Iron and Wine.

My son Charlie is named after his dad's deceased grandfather. I actually picked out the name in the kitchen one day with my ex's mom and when I said it she told me it was his grandfather's name and smiled and I said well alright then, that works.

Josh and I have toyed with the idea of naming our future first born male Gram. Mainly because we both like the name and also cause he has a huge obsession with Gram Parsons.

And Gram is almost Marc backwards.

(I guess you wouldn't want to name him Cram.)
