I don't know if Robyn Hictchock counts as a virtuoso, but his guitarwork is great listening.

I prefer to think that Mike Watt is not virtuosic, and that's why he's so heavy.

Kid Koala is a virtuoso turntablist, unquestionably.

John McLaughlin.

I love David Gilmour, but don't consider him a virtuoso. I mean, he hits every note perfectly, so maybe I ought to reconsider...

Almost threw these in, as well:
Quote:
Bela Fleck
Trey Gunn (Warr guitar)
Tony Levin (bass and Stick)
Pat Mastellotto
...not sure why I didn't.

Have you heard Sunday All Over The World? A must-have, from what I can discern of your tastes. I love that album. Toyah also has a poor-man's cousin follow-up to it (Fripp even co-wrote a song on it, though he didn't play on it). I forget which one, I think it's Prostitute. Chronology-wise, I think it's the one she did right after Kneeling at the Shrine.

Love Drozd, but is he really a virtuoso? I never thought of him as a super-spectacular drummer, but one with a great sound and style (which is most often what I enjoy, really.)

I've got SAOTW, don't listen to it much, however - her voice gets on my nerves. But the music is great. I had the follow-up (which I think is Ophelia's Shadow, actually) long ago, but I really didn't get much out of it. Sold it back, but probably should have kept it - I think all of this stuff is out of print. There was a period where I went on a King Crimson side-project freak-out, but I found that I didn't like many of them (I'm talking some really obscure things, not just things Fripp & Belew guested on.) Ophelia got lumped in with that stuff when I dumped it all years ago - it's one of the few that I regret getting rid of.
