I worked in this group home and my boss was named charles. One time, the boss of both of us, came to the group of employees and said that she was going out of town and said, "while I am gone, charles is in charge". Now. we all laughed at the poor guys expense. I think though it was more because the statement was unintentional. I felt bad later.

But, I have to say, I am a bit hypocritical too because this same guy I used to call Chuck. I would say, "what's upchuck?" I would say it as though it was the term used for vomiting. And then I would laugh at how funny I was. I hate myself.

Ha, unintentional stuff I can laugh at no problem there's no reason to feel bad. That example, I would have laughed at as well. I can laugh at a lot, even the Upchuck bit, as I've (a) been known to drink a lot and (b) vomit, so it goes with the territory. I only get annoyed with the idiots who actually think they're making a funny joke for the first time. I really identified with your laughing boy's hilarious puns on "joe".

I've got an old song from the 19th century, "Darlin' Cory", which is actually about a woman. I listened to the Doc Watson version as a kid, but I can't find those lyrics.
