Went out to a pre-birthday lunch with the parents who took me to the Macaroni Grill, our waitress was Italian and serenaded me as I ate my cake. F'n great. I can now scratch that off my list of things to happen to me.

well, I suppose the whole waiting staff was supposed to come out, but the place was packed, and the woman was like make sure you applaud afterwards so I don't feel like an idiot, the free cake was great too.

As cool as this may seem, I think I would hide under the table if the staff in a restaurant started singing to me. I almost ducked outside the bar on my last birthday when it was just my friends who started the singing upon my arrival... People often ask me if we (The Grill) do special birthday things, like sing. A resounding 'No'. Anyone ever heard the little songs that the employees at Coldstone Creamery sing whenever you tip them?

Yeah it was completely awkward but completely endearing and nice. I could feel my face turning about 15 shades of red btw.

this is usually done only after being tipped, correct? i've seen it through once and will tip at coldstone if i have a ridiculous order, but i tell them to save the song because i can't imagine they enjoy it.

does a lapdance count? My freshman yr of college, a bunch of us went to a strip club and I did the unthinkable, ordered buffalo wings. I was drunk...and I ordered a lapdance and proceeded to eat wings, they call me Mr. Class.

i've been serenaded in a restaurant for my bday before. a couple times. it was miserable. the one time they kept tying balloons in my hair. (i wanted to KILL my friends...who, of course, found it most amusing.)

now they all know NOT to do that or else.

The worst bday restaurant singing was last yr at lunch...at the local mexican place where they put a sombrero on my head and proceeded to pound it on my head 25 times. no lie.
