I thought Seattle was screwed by the refs in this one, but can't say they should have won the game either. They were completely inept in the red zone and Jeramy Stevens was freaking pathetic. He was a stud for UDub in college, but clearly one of the goats in this one.
Overall, I was unimpressed with this one, and the commercials were subpar. I can only say that Ron Wood's solos during the halftime were pretty awesome and the only really redeeming part of this night.
At least the Georgians can be proud of both Hines Ward and Mack Strong, they played extremely well.

I didn't see any holding on that play. The ball should have stayed at the 1 yard line. I don't think that would have made the Steelers lose, but it would have made things closer.

Pittsburgh 21-10, Seattle had two touchdowns negated by questionable penalties, and the Steelers first touchdown should have never counted.

Yea, I didn't see a holding on that play either.

How did no one see holding? The OL from Seattle was behind the guy from Pittsburgh, who was churning his legs and making no forward progress. Granted, I played offense, but I don't remember any running in place techniques from DL.

Unrelated side note: I didn't realize until tonight that tommy two thumbs has Simon Adebisi in his avatar. Kick ass.

Hines Ward = MVP

Stones preformance = GREAT SOUND ;) + JAIL

Overall, I think me and Bloor come out the real winners.

Highlight of the night: Derris called me and said he vomitted when the Stones came on.

Seattle completed a bunch of passes for no points, and the four yard dumps as time was dwindling was pretty awful.

Also, there is no reason in the world to not realize that when Randel El gets a reverse, he's gonna chunk it.

All I saw on the Hold play was the Seattle lineman trying to underhook the defenders arm, which would have been a hold, but basically whifted and fell on his face.

The incorrectly called chop on the interception runblock hurt, as well.

Hasselbeck was not blocking the man 'gainst whom the refs indicated the illegal block was. Further, Hass wasn't even blocking anyone, foremost. He was attempting a tackle/stoppage of forward progress by the interceptor.

Innit?

I believe you can't tackle someone if they don't have the ball. Since Hasselback dove below the knees at a blocker, I believe that was the rationale behind the call.

Good call on Ron Wood. I think that was the only "wow, really?" moments I had during their set or the game...it sounded like their monitor mix was off on start me up, but sync'd up by satisfaction. I dunno, there's something to be said for the authenticity of "just a blues/garage band" being a bit sloppy, but since when are the Stones just another band?

The commercials really were surprisingly dull though, eh?

You're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to Lost...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I more or less watched this game out of the corner of my eye, genuinely ambivalent about the outcome, surprised that the Seahawks couldn't put it together, etc. but the inevitable fallibility of the NFL's officials never ceases to frustrate and annoy.

the nfl refs do not even care how obvious it is that they are trying to influence the outcome of games. the holding call was the worst, the offensive pass interference was questionable at best (steve young even called bullshit, which those dudes never do), the hasselback personal foul was horrible, and they missed 2 straight obvious offsides calls on the left side of the pitt d line.

worst SB ever. I said it. Horrid playing from both sides, officiating not worthy of SB effort, and really only good point was the Stones. Loog, I'll agree with you on that one. Everything else was dullsville. I was flipping between Puppy Bowl II and Simpsons/Family Guy Marathon.

1. Fairly boring game... Seattle "didn't win it" more than Pittsburg "won it", if that makes sense. The push off in slow mo was laughable, but in real speed you could see what the ref saw. HInes Ward MVP...um, ok. Indicative of the quality of the game.

2. I continue to be amazed that the Stones are not ridiculous and actually still seem like the Stones,. In fact, it was one of the better live Satisfactions (one of my least favorite Stones rockers) I have ever heard. Mick should start compensating more for the fact that his legs are becomiing old-man legs... he's got five more years, I think. Bono has done a good job of scaling it back... pacing himself.

3. Both Woods and Richard(s) rocked. Charlie was good.

i thought the stones were horrendous. the mix was terrible, but they seemed pretty ordinary. i can't imagine them being a good live band if that's any indication of what they're like. ron wood had some moments, though.

First chink in the armor: Harry, that open racist. A dude who hates Koreans, Brothers, and them Green-Eyes.

I picked the winner but lost the bet on the line. We left the party we were at at halftime because of a high buster quotient. Also a terrible live band was destroying my enjoyment of the Stones. Unnaceptable.

I thought the game was fine. Pro football is about defense. College football is for people who enjoy indescriminate scoring; some of us can appreciate a zone blitz. The rest should watch the Pac-10. Pro ball has, and will always be for gambling junkies, film freaks, and people who will risk a bladder infection to pissing before a commercial. Thus, Hines Wrd is the MVP. All is well tonight in Football Land.

Funny. No problem with the asian/africano conceptually... but Willie Parker was a better MVP choice...even Randle El... or if you truly are a defense junkie, Ike could have been just as good a choice... leading tackler and the timely intercept...

Don't you diss the Pac 10 homes... and Pro Football has been at its best with a balance of offense and defense... you felt nothing seing Bart Starr walk out, I mean, fucking Bart Starr.... brain + courage + accuracy = touchdowns. Seeing Montana pick apart a team in the last two minutes like a surgeon... is much less interesting than seeing Butkus cause a shoulder separation?

All of the Stones looked like they were about to die. I wish that they could just retire instead of surviving on their legacy. Back in the day they were considered dangerous in a way and now there the safe choice for the NFL's halftime show.

i don't really see how you can argue with ward. what i also don't really see is the point in continuing to watch sporting events that are fixed. the nfl better be careful or they will end up as ridiculous as boxing.

Actually, we'll just have to agrree to disagree on the MVP, my friend: I may be biased but there is no better MVP form this game than Ward (5 rec. 123 yards, 1TD)---he made several key catches in addition to the icing TD catch, as well as being the key outside blocker in every running scheme. In short, Hines Ward has finally gotten a measure of credit for the yeomans work that he has been doing for years as the most underrated player in the league.

And of course I love balance, man. I just hate when people claim that the college game is more exciting---its just more simple.....And I'll take Joe Mo looking into the crowd, recoginizing and acknowledging John Candy and then throwing a strike to John Taylor over any play in history....

Holding and pass interference can plausibly be called on almost any play. The refs took full advantage of that plausibility.
