I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't received a mix from anyone in a long while.

My mix is going to be... hopefully not too sucky.

For the last time, people, CDs make terrible coasters! The "sweat" goes right through the hole in the middle and off to the sides, and on a really humid day, sticks to the bottom of the glass, just to fall of with a small puddle into your lap.

Yes, I know it's just an expression. Welcome to my sense of humour.

A for me only...at least for right now. Not that I wouldn't like to but I just can't send out that many cds at this moment in time.

It is getting pretty big... but 25 new mixes from your fellow obners is a might fine reward.

Don't send jewelcases. I won't be - warning to all involved, there won't be a jewelcase coming from me! I found an ingenious way of handling CD shipping from a guy I bought some CDs from off Amazon. He doesn't send jewels, instead he sends the disc and all artwork sandwiched between a piece of 1/2" styrofoam with a thin piece of cardboard on top. I reused his packaging to ship off another disc to someone and found the postage was something like 63 cents. The idea would probably work just as well for two pieces of corrugated cardboard, too.

here's the latest info I need...

Mailing addresses:

aFreshStart4Me
Flying Rabbit
nakedprey
oldbullee
red
zeke the moody drifter

cd options (a, b, a&b):

beachy
Dalen
Flying Rabbit
oldbullee
zeke the moody drifter

for reference, "a only" folks so far: dog on wheels, juice, paranoidandroid, radcliffe, vanlandingham

did we decide the cutoff date for signing up was today? I know billy g wanted mixes to be done and sent out by March 1.

btw, dog, vanlandingham has also signed up for the "a only" option, so you're not the only one.

someone else suggested March 1 as a deadline and it seems reasonable to me. I'm no dictator though so its open to discussion if anyone has a problem with it.

I'd also suggested everyone make up their mind whether they are doing A only or A&B both by the end of today. I thought that there would be more A only entrants, I'm pleasantly surprised that there aren't that many. I'd suggest that if it remains only 2 A only's that Van Landingham and Dog exchange with each other and that anyone else who out of the kindness of their hearts wants to send those two a copy of their mix do so also. I'd imagine at least a few of us will.

The immediate future is too uncertain for me, so I'm gonna have to scale back to A. I don't know what I'd do with 25 mixes if I end up living in a cardboard box in the alley behind The Only. Maybe use 'em as weapons.

right now, it's 26 total. Three people are signed up for a only (dog on wheels, radcliffe, and vanlandingham). 7 people haven't decided what they're doing yet (but I'm assuming a&b).

Put me in with the A only crowd. I'm thinking that the list is getting a little large for the amount of time/funds I will have available to send to so many.

Plus the fact that I feel more comfortable knowing that only one person will be laughing at whatever mix I send.

That's better. I'm not alone after all.

I can whip up a mix by the 1st, no problem. I just need to know who I'm swapping with. Because my mixes are almost always dependent on who they're for. I usually try to cater.

26 people is a lot, but I guess I'm just gonna suck it up and deal with the cost/time. I think slim jewel cases are pretty light so maybe that'll cut down on shipping. The cardboard/styrofoam thing seems like a little bit too much trouble.

1 seems too little....
26 seems too much

is there some type of common ground we can reach here?

Just a suggestion -- if you guys are sending out like 26 CD's (and I mean exactly 26 CD's, they should fit in one of those 25 spindles. I doubt 27 will -- if you can find a 30 spindle, that'd probably be better. It'd probably be worth it to buy a full one just for this purpose, because the savings in shipping should pay for the difference.

Just thinking out loud -- I could be totally off with my math.

But all 26 CDs are going to different places.

I'm not sure I understand your suggestion. No one is mailing 26 cds to the same person if that's what you're proposing.

I tend to think the opposite way -- that with increased recipients, its more likely that someone might really like my mix.

this was really just an excuse to bump the thread
