9 a.m.
10 a.m.
11 a.m.
12 p.m. <---
1 p.m.
2 p.m.
3 p.m.

This is what really annoys me. Why is noon 12 p.m. and midnight 12 a.m.?

You're counting up from 9 to 10 to 11 to 12, then you start over at 1.

But the p.m. switches over at 12, before the numbers switch.

To go from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. doesn't make any sense.

It would make a lot more sense to go from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the numbers and letters starting fresh with 1.

Right? It makes perfect sense.

maybe. but what's even more annoying is trying to figure out time in a country that uses the 24 hour clock.

The day changes at midnight, morning is the first part of the day, hence 12AM at midnight.

If you use a 24 hour clock, midnight is 0:00, noon is 12:00; further support for the current convention.

24 hour time is no problem for me.

But we go from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m.

That doesn't make much sense. If they're both a.m., there shouldn't be a switch over in numbering.

I don't like conventions unless they are in Las Vegas or some other fun place

Uhh unless it's going to be 12 am all day yes there should be.

Frankly I think you make no sense.

I missed my fantasy football draft this year because they had it at midnight on a saturday, which means it was late Friday night/ Early Saturday morning. I missed it by an entire day. I was so pissed.

Outed yourself!

If you're thinking about playing again, now is the time. The current block is the best since Invasion (better really). It´s a good time now.

You ever go to any PTs or GPs?

i think i stopped playing during the mirage block...there's probably a lot that's changed, right?

if PTs and GPs are tournaments, i went to a couple. i think they allowed type 1 cards, which i didn't really have and i got killed. it was mostly just playing between friends. i still have my red/green deck intact and sitting in on shelf in my house somewhere.

Yeah. Tons has changed. The game has matured quite a bit. Some rules are different. The biggest change is the power scale. The average card now is better than the average card was then.

I loved Mirage when it came out. It's one of my favorite sets ever. Just a few months ago they re-released it in Magic Online and it looks hideous. Compared with the awesomeness that is now, Mirage looks lame and unfocused. Kinda sad really.

If you want I can hook you up with some playstock from the newer stuff. All you'd have to do is pay for shipping.

Buhh. Am I that incapable of explaining myself?

What I mean is that 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. makes sense, right?

12 comes after 11. They're both a.m.

But 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. doesn't make any sense.

Because they're both a.m.

If it was 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. to 1 p.m., that would make sense.

Because you'd be steadily increasing the a.m. numbers before switching over to the p.m. numbers at a low number.

But that's not how it works.

It goes 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

If we're going from 11 to 12, they should be the same. (In this case, a.m.)

If we're going from 12 to 1, there should be a change. (i.e. from a.m. to p.m.) But there isn't. 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. doesn't make any sense.

PM = post meridiem AM=ante meridiem

ie PM = after 'noon'

since time is continuous it is never exactly 'noon' whenever we measure

eg. the time might be 11:59:995 which would be AM

or the time might be 12:00:001 which would be 1 millisecond after noon, which would be PM

if theoretically we would measure at exactly noon, then 12pm would be neither am or pm, and thus you often see 12noon and 12midnight written instead of 12pm and 12 am

What's even more annoying is on the time clock at work, an hour is broken down into 100 units. Therefore, I'm nearly always late.

I think we need color-coded Venn diagrams and shit to explain this.
