As long as the dress code is something like "don't look like shit," this is absolutely correct. It's really not asking much, people.

p.s. Nobody owes you a job.

The best thing about a casual workplace are the days you show up in a suit--makes folks nervous (since the only reason anyone does this is if they've got an interview).

I don't mind tattoos but I guess in a business enviroment you should probably cover them up. If you're doing manual labor, I think it's anything goes.

Anything beyond a small nose ring or tongue stud is retarded though. I went into this music store a few weeks ago and the guy behind the counter had like eyebrow piercings, a bunch on his ears, nose, between his eyebrows, lower lip...gross.

Yeah, don't use someone's occupation as a measurement of their intelligence or education level. It makes people like me angry.

Yes, modifications do limit employment options, and maybe in that guy's case, that's the best job he can get. However, there is always the chance that he WANTS to be working in a record store. If that's the case, then more power to him. And being able to keep all his jewelry in at his job is an added perk. You thinking he looked stupid is fine, but don't imply that he actually is stupid based on his job.

Edit: So you know why this bothers me. I deal with people and their 'holier-than-thou' attitude towards me all day long. They think that because I am a waitress in a restaurant, I am not capable of getting a 'better' job. They believe me to be uneducated or just plain dumb. I am neither. I do what I do because it's what I want right now. And I don't need to justify my choice to those in the general public that show such blatant disrespect.

A person has every right to express themselves in any way that does not encroach upon others, but at the same time, I still reserve the right to make assumptions and judge that person based upon the methods of self-expression they choose.

One day I decided that I was going to go get a bunch of lures in my face to express myself, but then a thought occured to me. If I did that, what would I do with all these words?

No, he's right. You're basically judging a book by its cover, grandpa.

What are you going to do next, tell me to get a haircut?

You guys are missing my point. You do have a right to judge based on appearances. I'm saying leave the job out of it (see my previous post for edit).

So now we're perpetuating the status quo? Oh, everyone else is doing crack, I guess that makes it okay...

Whew! Glad to know it's ok now. Means I don't have to hide my habit anymore. Meanwhile, it's getting late. Time to head to the second office on the corners of Cleveland and Barber Sts. I gotta pay for this shit somehow, you know.

you're missing my point. you act like you don't do that, yet you then go on to subscribe to the equally stupid idea that people who do dress up are 'grandpas' who are 'square' etc.
