James Bond is the greatest movie franchise of all time.

How true, how true.

Another favorite movie franchise of mine is the Dirty Harry series.

LOTR

good, but just a trilogy.

There have been 5 fucking james bonds with a sixth on the way, this shit has been going on since before your old ass was concieved!

LOTR is great, but done, and there was only one Aragorn.

Just sayin.

The franchise is too big for its own good. Connery and Moore ones were awesome. The only thing that interests me about the new one is Daniel Craig himself.

and shouldn't Bond have at least one VD by now?

George Lazenbee was good, but only in one.

No seriously, he was good. I thought Brosnan was good but the scripts were thin, even for Bond. I thought Dalton out and out sucked.

Still the best franchise evah.

Dalton's a good actor but he played "pissed-off/not humping" Bond. And that's not right.

THANK YOU....I guess MI-6 has some kick-ass antibiotics or something. Though that obviously can't solve the problem of all those (possible) bastard children that man has running around the globe...

I only watched a few bond movies as a kid, and they never made a huge impression. Then the Brosnan ones started coming out, which obviously suck, so I thought "wow, I guess the franchise has really gone downhill." Since then, I've seen some of the "classic" Connery movies and realized it hasn't gone anywhere. They're all pretty crappy. Sorry Phil, I can't agree.

Brosnan is good, his movies sucked. I liked the Dalton ones. Lazenby wasn't good, but his movie was the best one.

We agree.

I have hopes for the new one, though.

If they stepped down the camp factor, and got back to what the books are like, this whole deal could be AMAZING.

Goldfinger is close, but the end is just meh.

You haven't seen Tomorrow Never Dies? It really didn't let up from the time he gets in the plane in the opening sequence -- I thought that one was completely under-rated.

I've seen them all except the Lazenby one. After Moore, they just became generic action movies.

So what were they before?

Well...not generic -- lot of nice impossible sequences type stuff (Thunderballs' underwater fight scene; Moonraker's space fight scene; Mr. Jaws, etc.); lot of puns; lot of scantily clad women (and unclad silhouettes during the opening credits); and lots of "inventions".

I don't see the same differentiation as you do (pre-Moore/post-Moore) -- I did see the monogamous Bond as anti-thetical, though, I do agree with that criticism. That was just wrong.

I just thought that Connery & Moore inhabited the role of Bond better than anyone after them. Dalton & Brosnan were kind of blah. I don't hate the movies they did but they didn't have the same spark that Roger & Sean did. And even though I like Daniel Craig, Clive Owen would've been great as the next Bond.
