my wife doesnt understand this. she has never been on a message board or a chat room in her life. she asked me what obner is (on my favorite links at home) and i told her it is a music website. that's all she knows.

I get two categories of obner-related comments from the wife:

- "What does the board think about (insert movie / album here)?"
or
- "See if you can find (insert album here)."

most of my real life friends know about my "internet friends," and they think it's kind of funny and probably a little weird, but they're all on friendster and myspace so they kind of get it.

i have not told my new boyfriend about it, although i did show him the smashing pumpkins reuniting thread the other day (just refrained from telling him what he was looking at). if we ever ran in to anyone, i would probably say i knew people from going to shows a lot. honestly, i'm not sure what is the best way to bring it up to him.

i would never tell my parents, they would freak and/or never stop making fun of me.

as far as obners met, i knew robotboy and charli (and spade kitty, sort of) before i joined CMJ. since then i've met cap'n and busty. i think that's it?

Well, first things first -- find out if your S.O. is a furry. And then when the indignation resides, you can tell them you're not into that stuff...but you do have some friends from the internet.

It was actually pretty funny... when I was down in the LA area in November for a training seminar, I had made plans to meet up with puma and Aural (didn't know billy g was coming til later). My husband asked me about them, like he was worried they were going to chop me up into bits, so I gave him their cell numbers as a fallback... so puma and Aural, if you ever screw with me, the cops might come calling, ha ha! He knows about the board and how much fun I have with it. He might be leery if I started bringing guys around the house, saying, "This is so-and-so... you know, one of the guys on obner?"

See, my now ex boyfriend and my now husband were/are members of the board.

So it's never been weird for me. Well, I do have to be more careful about answering certain posts in threads. Some stuff has to stay secret you know.

Proof. I think that other than the people that I knew pre-Obner, I've only met TinyE, Drinky, and DiscoStu....

I can see that... But, damn, any offspring that would result from that fuh'ing would be one bad eyed muh'fuh.

most of my friends don't care if i know people from other internet sites because they do the same thing via myspace and other msg bb's.

No worries... he doesn't have the numbers anymore and would never have called them. It was just my way of making him feel okay about me going out with people I "met" on the internet.

We'll fix it soon, I promise. But we're both hermits.

Happy home lives + job/school = shut-ins.

That's pretty much what I was gonna say. Derris looks BLEARY.
