And to the people that say popularizing a genre is changing music, I ask if you consider artists like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, etc to have changed music? Because in their own way they popularized a genre.

i might say that they changed music, but it was more like a tank going over a hill. they were only a minor inconvience for the unstoppable profit margins of the establishment.
