Yeah, that sucks. I'm stuck in the "We aren't exchanging gifts this year" phase, which is of course B.S.

If you:

a) like her

-Treat her like she is in fact your gf. She'll either like you back or break your heart.

b) don't care

- Treat her like the unimportant trash she is, and she'll either let you off scot free, or she'll fawn over you until you have to tell her you're gay, or have the clap, or some other outrageous lie to get her off your case

c) want to figure it all out later

- Treat her like an interesting friend, i.e., act like you might be gay, this will buy you time while she's trying to figure out your unreadable depths, much like a cat will bat a mouse around that is pretending to be dead. By the time you or she figures anything out, valentine's day will be past for at least a couple of weeks, and you'll be on your way home to some fantastic (and only slightly pathetic) ex-sex with your high school sweetheart over Easter weekend. They don't call it Good Friday for nothing.

i've never cared for valentine's day anyway, so the fact that i don't have a bf or husband on v-day doesn't really bother me. i was even dumped on v-day one year. this year i'm going to have mad sex and eat fondue. not necessarily at the same time.
