I'll probably pick this up. The new material performed live in Montreal (thanks, Duckyboy?) wasn't too terribly bad - I still have it on YSI if you're feeling naughty. Some of the tracks lean towards EWLM..., my personal fav, but for the most part, it's an extension of B&A.

YEah, I'll check that shee out if you wanna shoot me a PM.

I was never able to get into EWLM, but that may be because I never gave it that much of a chance, and accidentally erased it.

I really liked B&A, and would love to see them again.

EWLM is a real grower where B&A is more immediate. EWLM in my opinion is the best album of this decade and far superior to B&A. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't ever agree with me on that, but still you should really give it more of a chance.

I knew you liked it better (and cotton does as well) but didn't know you felt that highly about it.

I need to see if its backed up on my old back up drive, or maybe *gasp* but the fucker ;)

It's amazing. What some see as same-y, I love as an incredible vibe. There's a limited vocabulary there that I think is lost when you basically can fly in any fucking thing to your records these days and make it this stupid digital arabesque. Restraint, by God.

Yeah, exactly. Its all about the vibe and texture of their sound on that album. It really gets under your skin with repeated listens. Its one of those rare albums that I liked A LOT more 6 months after my first listen and a little more still 1 1/2 years after my first listen.

I can't speak for Cotton, but I know F4DF was in near perfect agreement on that.

If it's not the best, it's certainly high on that list.

I just couldn't get into B&A....

Well, I did spend the weekend snowed-in with their publicist. She doesn't have a copy yet, but I tried! ;)

I have a feeling the new one will be a bit of a grower, based on the live stuff.

Other than "The Rat" which hits you right away like a ton of bricks, I think everything you guys have said about Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me..., is true of Bows & Arrows.

And to me Bows & Arrows is just a better album. It is definitely one of my favorite records of the 2000s.

From what I remember of the new stuff they played live, it was faster and more upbeat. Very few "Hang On, Siobhan"'s, I suppose. I guess those aren't the types of songs they'd play live, though.
