sometimes i can't keep track of what news has been posted on what boards, so i thought this was a repeat here. anyway... i think it's good for ted leo. apparently, epic had some serious interest in him, but he declined their offers. touch & go's still a pretty good label and he fits in well with a lot of their roster. i don't think this will have much impact on his music, so i'm expecting another solid album when he gets around to it. (he's on tour in march, so i have no idea when he'll be releasing something else.)

Not a bad move for him. Although if he were to sign to a major, epic would be about the least offensive place for him to go.

Touch & Go used to be such a crappy label. Were I not already familiar with Mr. Leo, I'd not buy this.

I've read before that Touch & Go is very fair to their artists, too. Anyway, I wonder if this was a conscious move by Ted, or just a result of Lookout's financial woes.

"least offensive major label" = relative term...

Um....

When Green Day decided to start asking for Royalties again, Lookout! did a big virtual belly-up. They were hoping that a few releases might sell enough to sustain them (Bratmobile came back and put out a Lookout! album, the Pattern spurned other label interest because Chris Applewhite was the current pres. of Lookout!, and Ted Leo put out "Shake the Sheets"), but they had hired way too many people, put out too many records that didn't sell, and extended themselves too far with subsidiaries like Panic Button, to even come close to making a profit...

They're to the point now where they don't even do their own mailorder.... It sucks to have them out of "The Game", but it proves that not only Majors can mismanage funds until they have to be conglomerated/go out of buisness...

FT ruined Bobsled Records when he "made" The Chamber Strings break up.

I'm still waiting for Kevin Junior to exact his revenge by releasing a solo album featuring a scathing indictment of me in song. Put down the smack and get to work, junkie!!!
