Big fucking if.

If you mean i'm not a fan of bullshit, then you're right, and you don't know everything about what I do or don't like, so sit on it potsie..

Bullshit? Whatever, dude, but when you actually read enough of posts you do get a fairly good idea of what people like and dislike. Based on comments you've made in the past regarding AC/DC and their ilk, I surmised that you generally don't like this kind of music, so your opinion is going to be negative even if the songwriting quality increased an order of magnitude. You think it's all derivative and unoriginal. It shouldn't be fucking jazz.

For the type of music it is, most would agree that Appetite is quality stuff. Same goes for Back in Black.

Shove both of those albums up your ass. They're more useful as suppositories.

The thing i REALLY can't stand about either of those bands, more so than the inane songwriting...

both of those bands have frontmen with horrible fucking voices.

It doesn't have to be fucking jazz, but it doesn't have to be lowest common denominator diarrhea either.

Nah, the albums are fine where they are, ensconced as two of the best rock albums of the last 26 years. There are so many classic songs on those albums, it's sick. Most bands would give their left nut to be able to make music that resonates that much with so many.

And it's hardly the lowest common demoninator. The Ramones were brilliant because of the simplicity, both in lyrics and music. Or did I misunderstand the denominator remark as description of who their fans?

You go, Phil!

I never got into GNR, and I'm pretty apathetic about them and Axl, except for maybe any involvement with Tommy Stinson.

I know GNR doesn't like to get lumped in so much with the whole hairspray and eyeshadow scene of the late 1980s, but the Adam Curry era serves to illustrate time period in this instance, not genre. I missed the whole cock rock (wrapped in Lycra) experience, because on the bus we got a daily dose of Public Enemy, Ice-T, Slick Rick, EPMD and 2 Live Crew.

I don't know, I listened to as much Kool Moe Dee and Eric B and Rakim as I did GnR and AC/DC. I don't think they had to be mutually exclusive.

And who is Adam Curry?

I realize this is a ridiculous question, but why would you bother listening to it if you hate Sweet Child O' Mine?

You are also older than me right? :P

I was in sixth grade in 1987, and we listened to rap every morning and afternoon on the bus, then watched Yo! MTV Raps. Never dressed the part, or anything silly like that. Haha. So while I agree that they aren't mutually exclusive, I also don't think you have a real wide worldview at 11-13 years old. That's just my anectdote. It's rare I find someone else that's generally apathetic about GNR.

I was in grade 9 in '87 actually, so I've got a couple years on you. I honestly think that in 1988 I listened to nothing but GnR and those aforementioned rap groups and later NWA. There wasn't much in between. Once NWA hit, I think the lines blurred between them and GnR. Both Appetite and Straight Outta Compton are pissed off and profane, but for different reasons obviously, which typically appeals to someone in high school.

Ahhh, I never had the MTV so him and Yo MTV Raps is all lost on me, and most Canadians, I think. We had MuchMusic.

Ha, I haven't heard that in forever! I actually saw the video for Principal's Office not too long ago on MuchMusic, it made me want to hear Stone Cold Rhymin' again.

Slash has been playing the same solo since Appetite. Whether it's with Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, whatever. What I'm saying is, I disagree with this comment.

This post illustrates why you are probably my favorite boarder these days. Exactly the same feelings and tastes.

You want JAIL, Appetite is JAIL. That record is so fucking hard, it IS gangster rap. And yeah, Axl's an asshat, Slash is drunk jew, and Izzy is SUPREMELY underrated, but that is one of the best and most fully realized debut albums ever to fuck the whole world up, and if you don't like it, you may not like fun...

(or your idea of fun probably doesn't involve liquor, inhalants, baseball bats, mailboxes and FAST CARS)

In this case, it's just crap, regardless of country of origin. In this case, the la-la land in Axl Rose's own head that he still holds relevance in today's music world.

The Ramones were brilliant because they wrote great songs and great musicians for the genre, blah blah fucking blah. I love the ramones, I hate g'n'r, and all the candy ass kids i went to school with who slobbed that knob.

15 million people bought Cracked Rear View Mirror (i'm not one of them), but that doesn't make it good. It means 15 million people have bad taste and/or got suckered into that album.

You got suckered into this horse shit, and now you have to pretend it's champagne truffles.

Jail my ass, go watch the video for Welcome to the Jungle, and reach into your closet for your whippets and your pink petticoats, calling that shit hard rock is like accusing opa of being straight.

I fail to see how you can watch that video, and feel straight.

GnR is for homos. Opa, back me up, but verbally. Physically, you're fine right where you are.

Dude, I don't entirely agree with you, but that right there is poetry. Also, it explains a lot of people's reactions to some of the music they listen to.

I don't marvel at anything you say. You're a predictable little shit.

At best, you'll grow up to be a slightly less predictable little shit, but that's a long shot.

you're ridiculous and ignorant, a winning combination.

Now piss off, and try to have some of your girlfriend's impeccable taste rub off on you.

I'm ignorant, but using the same incredibly unfunny comment about "homos" three times in three lines is clever.

Leave the music discussion alone and go back to bitching about your pathetic teaching career.

I just figured it out, Blue Milk is overly sensitive about the gay humor, perhaps he's closeted.
