I'm talking about the bands that you've heard, and you know that you love, but you only own a small portion of their discography.

The one that comes to mind for me is:
Boo Radleys

I only own their last 2 albums: C'mon Kids and Kingsize.
And I KNOW that Giant Steps and Wake Up! are essentials for me that I just don't have yet.

So yeah, those records are high on my list.

(yes, this post was inspired by a conversation with BeeOK!

it's Yo La Tengo for me. I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One is one of my favourite records of all time but for some reason i have never even heard anything else they've done. It's quite strange really.

Thee Missouri

they have one easily attainable record, and 4 old ones that I want, bvut the band is from Germany, and all the sites that sell the old records are small record labels all in German...a little hesitant to order from some of these places.

My personal recommendations for you (in order):
1. Electr-O-Pura
2. Fakebook
3. And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out
4. Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo
5. May I Sing With Me

I only have London Calling by The Clash even though its becoming one of my favorites cds.

I also only have the song Freak Scene by Dinosuar Jr. and despite how much I love that song I haven't gotten around to actually buying a cd

Some things are meant to be taken slow. When I first got into Coltrane, I scrabbled around trying to get everything, which is way too much at once and probably hurt my appreciation of individual records. And I was too young anyway.

I learned when I came around to Dylan. Live with a record for a while and then move on to another. I think it's time for more Dylan.

It's a big mistake to try to digest an entire catalog at once. Taking it slow can be good.

I'd like the entire Sonic Youth catalogue but I 'only' have Evol, Sister, Daydream Nation, Dirty and Experimental, Jet Set and No Stars (I think I got that title wrong but who cares?)

I also need the entire Byrds catalogue and currently only have 5th Dimension, Younger Than Yesterday, Notorious Byrd Brothers and a 'Greatest Hits' compilation.

I thought this was the funniest joke I'd heard all day...

Then I realised that Daystar is a lady, and could quite possibly want to hear more rilo kiley (Girls are suckers for them, for some reason)...

It's still funny, though...

Elvis Costello - Why I only own his first three albums (those being some of my favorite albums ever) is kind of a mystery.

Steely Dan - working on it

Charles Mingus - Just could never decide what to get next, but I love the ones I have.

Gorky's Zygotic Minci - Kind of a low priority, but whenever I put on Barafundle, I love it.

Willie Nelson - working on it

for those of you who said "the boss"

you could probably pick up all his albums up to "Born in the USA" on vinyl for under $20, and less if you search dollar bins.

I thought that might be the case, since your list more or less matched up with mine. Like, freakishly similar, except for Painful.

I'm trying to think of bands I haven't gouged on yet. I mean, I hate a lot of bands, so this is problematic.

While we're talking about KPH's sig, let it go on record that I'm "in between" when it comes to Can. Don't love. Don't hate. S'alright.

I think a lot of people are like that, actually. I was just curious where it came from.
