ok....so i just pulled out "sketches for my sweetheart the drunk" for the first time in years. first off, what a great record. 2nd i can't imagine what it would sound like completely finished.

anyway this is a thread that BOWS down to the ole mighty master jeff buckley.

for those of you that haven't listened to this guy - do so. well respected guy. chances are - you favorite artists think highly of buckley as well.

i would start out with record -> "Grace"

Live at Sin-E (Deluxe) is absolutely amazing. Sometimes you hear these guys solo and it's just kind of disappointing and flat, but Buckley is truly amazing. And funny. Whenever I listen to this, I really feel the tragic loss the music world suffered with his death. He was really something special.

I'm a big fan. Have the original Sin-E ep, but I should get the deluxe edition. Also the Grace EPs box.

edit: Just bought Deluxe Sin-E from yourmusic.com for $11.98

all I have is Grace.
But it's pretty damn good.
Curious to hear Sketches....

I appreciate Jeff Buckley about as much as I do Ben Harper.

I own Grace but I have to admit that it never really hit me. I thought it was good overall with a few flatout great songs, but not as amazing as I had read about it. I think it specifically affects some people more than others. I lent Grace to a friend of mine and he thought it was one of the best records he'd heard in years and we generally have similar tastes. It's hard to predict.

I really should throw it on for a listen again, it's probably been a couple of years now.

I have the Grace three-disc and love it. It really depends on the day, though. Some days I turn it off after three minutes. Other days I stop doing anything else I was doing and just listen to tracks like "Lover, You Should've Come Over" and drop my jaw.

I picked up Grace based on many posts and magazine articles such as this one.

I was underwhelmed. I mean, it's okay, but just not my cup of tea.

if he finished Gunshot Glitter, i think it would've been one of the greatest songs of all time. In its current state though, its icey, haunting, and fucking amazing.

"You and I" off that album is both eerie and creepy yet so purty.

Ever listened to that mp3 of that aria he sung at some festival back in 95?

Again ... purty.

I love all his albums except for this piece of crap.

I have a bunch of mp3's of him solo on WFMU doing some cover songs that are amazing.
