401k or 457?

The co. I work for does not offer 457 plans so I'm not as familiar with them. I think the main difference is that 457s are exclusively for state and municipal employees, whereas 401(k)s can be used by pretty much any employer.

What about 403(b)s?

403(b)s are pretty much the same thing but those are for employees of schools, churches, nonprofit groups, hospitals, etc.
