I thought it was funny when we were discussing the US struggle against Latvia, but then Canada get shut out by the Swiss, which is ten times more embarassing

The U.S. Women's loss is more monumental, but not as embarassing, since they still medal.

Canada still has a great chance to get a gold, and don't forget the Swiss beat the US too. I'm glad to see it's a competitive tournament.

Looks like we've got ourselves a tourney :!: Gerber made 49 saves (how badly do the Ducks wish they had him back & how much has the 'Canes stock just raised?). This is a bump for Canada it's till there tourney to lose it just reminds everyone of how wide open a short tourney like this really can be.

I'm glad the women lost. Hopefully the media will put some pressure on the powers that be to answer why Cammi Granato wasn't on this team. And more importantly it makes things more interesting for the sport as a whole. Plus the US used 11 girls who had never been to the Olympics, they'll learn more from this than if they lost to Canada in the final.

thats what happens when your goaltenders go on a tear. the europeans are finally starting to get good goaltending, and when you get that it makes everything else a whole lot easier.

U.S. just lost to Slovakia...great game.

I think Russia has to be the favorite now to win Gold, looking forward to a good tournament.

Anyone think that Rutuu hit was cheap ? On another board I go to heads are saying it's a cheap shot, but I just think it was somewhat of a clean HARD hit...Jagr wasn't ready, Rutuu didn't let up(he should have a little bit)and Jagr got crunched..

It was cheap IMO. Ray Ferraro ripped into Ruutu. Stupid higher boards in Olympic hockey made it worse though.

US v Sweden was a great game. Too bad the US can't buy a goal. I knew Pahlsson & Axelsson were gonna be key when the teams were announced. I think Sweden has better defensive forwards than any other Euro team in the tourney.

Anyone else think playing the puck when your helmet is off is the dumbest penalty ever? I telling you I love this tourney but I'll take a World Cup over it any day.

Anyone know anything about the Alexander Frolov injury? Other than it's his shoulder & he left Italy?

The US team just looked kinda sad out there today. Modano looks so haggard lately. DiPietro is showing some grace, and I have more respect for him, since it seems that he can't be all to blame for the US's lousy outings.

Sidebar--I never really thought about this before today's game but, does anyone else think the US's jerseys look cheap? Like "iron on #" cheap?

I was actually gonna post something about this..I hate the new streamline jerseys...I thinkg that's what the NHL is going to next season..I know they practice in them now...I don't like them at all..They look like the cheap team jerseys you can buy at Target..Especially with the matching shin pads.
