A dash of the sauce has never been known to inhibit the production of good literature. I know I'm no big shakes at writing, but I think DBT are worth writing about a little. Thanks.

You should probably drink a lot when you're writing, that was a great blurb.

Maybe my next one should be about The Black Keys, about whom I feel similarly when I am in the midst of a JAILworthy drunk.

I have a couple of their albums a friend of mine sent me but I have yet to listen to them. I should rectify.

Another band that is confusingly compelling for me.

This thread has made me want to listen to the Drive-By Truckers, which I have never done before.

Black Keys are one of those bands that I enjoy hearing on WOXY, KEXP, etc., but I've never actually purchased anything. I had borrowed copies of Thickfreakness and another one, but again, never bought anything.

I do like when they pop up on Shuffle, though.

previous threads this week were worshipping this band.
never heard them before. so I listened to the new one. wasn't impressed
and
I was pretty drunk.
posted impulsively in multiple threads.
woke up and went with it. some decent arguments/information/suggestions were elicited.
cycle through it again tonight, but hopefully in a less-antagonistic manner.
and I'm looking forward to these albums now.
I'll have a follow up.

room-temp old style #1...

status: six drinks in.

all right,
about half-way through "the dirty south".
definitely grabs you the first time through.
i'm not sure what's missing in the new one.
less "authentic"..dunno.
but i do like this album...
the soul, the storytelling, the grinding-grit of 'reality' in the music and lyrics.

yeah yeah, you assholes win.

esp., when he's all, "...while we still have the DAYYYYYYYYY-LIGHT.."

it sounds like something and I can't figure it out

I didn't like DBT on first listen (that was Alabama Ass Whuppin about 6 years ago. Ya gotta dig deeper if this type of rawk isn't what you normally listen to. These guys are some of the best at what they do and deserve the attention.

Anyone want to hook me up with one of their albums? I've had no luck with soulseek over the past week.

I thought the album was horrible. I might have already posted that in this thread.

the new one? not their best.

as for the truckers in general, you are entitled to your opinions, no matter how misguided they might be.

I love them. Except for the new album. It's terrible. I don't even know if I'm going to buy it.
