Requires CC, simply cancel right after you sign up and you can take advantage. Decent selection, for the price cant be beaten

Any idea if they upped the amount for trial-just-joiners? I signed up Monday night. I'd better be getting an extra 50 tracks or I'll be firing off a sternly worded email!

Seems to be a separate promotion. Worth an email

I'm sure they are all well-encoded, and the artists got paid.

Well-encoded? I've downloaded a lot of things off emusic that are less than 192kb, not tagged properly (e.g. wrong song titles), and so on. I don't know how well their payout model works, but I'll be sure to ask some folks...

Ive yet to run into any problems., most of my files are around 210+ kbps.

The 100 free mp3s thing is a separate promotion, and for anyone interested, you can google "100 free mp3 emusic and find a link that gets you the 100 free.

Recently? The majority of the albums are 192 kbs VBR.

I'm sure it works better than Soulseek's.

Warning!

I think this is spyware! I downloaded this when I upgraded Winamp on my old computer and it fucked it up. It was messing with my soundcard among other things and went to cnet and tried all these applications to get rid of it. I finally deleted Wimamp and reinstalled the older version and it was fine.

Free enticing offers always seem to have a catch and this one messed with my Windows98SE.

You don't need to use any program to get mp3s from Emusic. They have their own Itunes-like interface, but I just use the site.

This thread just came up when I was looking for the other emusic thread with the search link, and I thought it was worthy of being bumped.

I signed up for this back in the day. 5 months later, I used a new e-mail, new address (cuz I moved) and the same credit card...and I got another 125 free downloads.

I assumed they would keep track of the CC number, but it worked. So hooray for me.

Finding site now...

http://2006.sxsw.com

(How come when I did the eMusic, I only got 100? I thought I was doing way better than the suckers that get only 50, haha.)

Edit: This bittorent link says there are 713 songs in it. Wow!
