A couple of weeks ago, we had a discussion regarding the merits of some of the common whiskeys available. The three names that seemed to come up most frequently were (a) Crown Royal; (b) Maker's Mark; and, (c) Jimmie Daniels.

This evening, Di (my lovely fiance') and I rented a couple of movies and stayed home. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to sample each of the three whiskeys (only twice - and in moderation) while watching the films and decide which I liked best.

To start, I must admit that CR is pretty much a staple in SoLa (where I am from). I pretty much grew up on Crown&Water. . .

That said, this evening, the CR was a little too sweet, while the Jack (regular, black label version) was just a little too sharp.

But man, this Maker's Mark is juuuuuuuuuuuuust right. . .

I think I have now decided whom I will be spending this holiday weekend with.

So, with that said, I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! (even if you don't celebrate that "X" part!)

Have a great holiday!!!
Trevor

Just remember, Old Forester is the poor man's Maker's Mark, aka The House Bourbon of every country club throughout the South.

Crown = awesome, for whiskey. Jack = terrible. Maker's = Juuuuust right, and Old Forester = best bang for the buck.

Is your fiance ok that you're going to be curled up with a bottle of Makers Mark all weekend?

nice shiv!

I guess I should have better explained that this weekend primarily consists of being around my family (mostly women) --- between the wedding details, gifts, "girltalk", etc., she'll have plenty to do without worrying about how many "sips" really are in that glass of whiskey I will have been tied to all day.

(And, because it is mostly women in the family who enjoy one another's company, after I read "The Cajun Night Before Christmas", I get to spend some downtime with my dog (Hank!), the remote control and whatever other vices I deem appropriate for the holiday.)

Salut!
