can i compensate for that by buying her flowers and making her a card and having it set out for when she wakes up in the morning? an apology in the card.
the only way i remembered my dads birthday is because my mom reminded me.
my dad usually does the same about my mom.... guess he forgot to remind us.
i feel like crap

You do suck. You better wake her up with coffee and breakfast and a card and an apology and flowers and at least one anecdote about how she taught you some big life lesson.

If you get along well with her the rest of the year, you'll be fine.

Special holidays mostly serve as a way to make up for sucking the rest of the year, anyway.

So. if you didn't suck the rest of the year, you're fine.

I would go now and tell her you've had it in your head for weeks that it was tomorrow and you just now realised the error of your ways and you love her very much. And then do all that other stuff tomorrow. Then you not only don't suck, you rock.

how about apologizing and telling her i've only been thinking of myself lately, because today i was planning on seeing my biological mother to try to persuade her to co-sign for loans so i can actually go to college, and that was dominating my thoughts and i didn't think about what day it was.
and then i'll promise to make it up to her.. and she'll wake up with roses on the counter

"I forgot about you because I was thinking about my real mom."

Well, I guess. Maybe she appreciates honesty.

Yeah, I would leave the 'other mom' as far out of the apology as possible.

Yeah, when I read that other mom bit I thought it was someone giving you a smart ass response until I realized you posted it. Leave that part out of the apology.

never and i mean never think that.
she may seem to blow it off or just be okay but everybody likes to be thought of.
it's inherent in a parent/kid thing that the parents are taken for granted so even little stuff means a lot.

They should make a movie about this and call it "Sixty Candles."

i suck worse. i don't remember when my mom's bday is and i haven't remembered for over 10 years. i've been too embarrassed to ask.

but the memory's not all lost. i'm pretty sure her bday is between 20-24 of april. before the 20th is when i send a card. i figure she doesn't need to know. ;)

i gave her a massage and scratched her back. my sister bought flowers. i'm definitely leaving something on the counter in the morning.
i hope the kitchen looks like shit when i get home tonight, even though i probably have to work at 8 am tomorrow and i'll get home after 2 i'll clean the hell out of the kitchen.

Yeah, really, stay away from the truth. I mean, yeah, you should be honest with your mom, but feelings is feelings, and don't hurt your mom's. Some things are just better left unsaid.

I realize you're not on the best of terms with your mom right now, but you still need to suck up to her.
