Wow, this went downhill after I left.

ATTENTION LOCALS: Anybody want the rest of mine? I have 3 to give away, and will drive them to you here in town as a gesture of goodwill. I've had my taste, and these are expensive - no need for us all to buy 4-packs for $10. It must be before 5pm. Today.

Lemme hear it.

No joke, when I read the description of this brew my stomach severely lurched.

good that you at least tried one cap'n. like i said, it's a complex craft brew. obviously, it's not for everybody. cap'n, if you don't mind a suggestion, then what you should do is to take your 3 remaining bottles and store them away in your basement through next fall, and then try one again.

personally, the beer's still kind of green and hasn't truly had a chance to mellow. another suggestion to those interested in trying it, don't drink it really cold because all you'll taste is the sourness of the cherries. pour it, and let it set for about 10-15mins to room temp. that's when it gets really smooth.

i poured the beer and let it sit as suggested.
and i can't claim a sophisticated palate
but i didn't enjoy the flavor combination.
however i did enjoy the free beer.

i also was over in middleton so i checked out bockfest.
i decided that the hype was too much for me to handle.

Well, Bockfest put my little ass in a headlock. I survived, Busty didn't - he's still there, and may god have mercy on his soul.

They serve up these beers....

There fucking ginormous. A liter. $7. You're only allowed to get 2. Because they're like 9 or 10% aclohol. But they taste... sweet. Mellow, friendly, no problem. But within about 5 sips (to quote Bustette), "I knew something was up." She and I finished ours and cut out while we could. No good could have come of another enormous mug of that wonderful, dangerous stuff. They were throwing beads off the roof. It was like 25 degrees out - my feet were blocks of ice. Busty may be dead.

Killerwhaler is a really really nice guy.

i went to bockfest too (sorry, that i missed meeting you all) yeah, the blonde doppel's pretty strong. i drank too much, and was in bed and asleep by 7:30. after 6 straight bockfests this one might have been my last. it's too big now, even though the capital got it right by opening up the parking lot to accomodate the 2500 -- it's just too big. i think i'll go up to hayward next year for the birkie.

btw, lake louie just released its russian imperial stout. it's pretty yummy -- super hopped. i'll bet many of you might enjoy it more than the cherry stout.

fuck. i had an interesting night with the capital. wisconsin amber. at least that's eight or nine of the things i drank over the course of the night. started tossin' them back around 5. Went to a coffee house to see a friend play Bon Jovi covers. There was more 'special' comedy at the open mic than my friend could provide; and a flask of Jim Beam. Went back to the starting point and drank more Capital and wine. Did some impromptu Def Leppard/Guns N' Roses covers. Decided it was a good idea to crash a med school party. Showed up. Ten people there. Ate over a dozen jello shots. completed a few keg stands. bonded? drunkenly wrote a $50 check for their guatemala trip. friends disappeared at some point. followed a female classmate to a bar. made my way home with another. tried to soberly converse. and me, more interested in stories and conversation than sex, talked her ear off til four in da morning. now, i have 'the shakes'. beat that bitches.
