i've compiled the albums that garnered the most votes of their year. i've looked for albums with a minimum of 10% vote for their year. of course, albums that ran away with their year will be the only ones listed.

i have a feeling most of these albums could have been omitted, but i wanted to be thorough. They're in yearly-chron order.

I went with Ziggy from the choices but if given the option I'd put

Caetano Veloso "Transa"
Love "Forever Changes" &
Curtis Mayfield "Superfly" all above it.

Yeah, I went with it as well. But I really hated having to choose with VU (WL/WH), Stooges (Funhouse), Ramones (S/T), Dolls (TMTS) and Bowie (Zig) all competing.

Went with Blonde on Blonde, 'cuz I'm in that kinda mood right now. Later this aft it might be the Dolls or the Stooges or the Mats or the Stones or Lennon or ten others. Yup. Great list - but goodgodawmighty there's a handful that just. don't. belong. in that company.

Have to say OK Computer of the ones listed. Being There, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks were all in the running though.

It's a good album. Nothing surprising about that.

I voted for On the Beach.

Could almost have gone with Pink Flag or Velvet Underground (s/t).

just surprising in the context of its year poll vs how other songs did in their own yearly polls. this is next up on my van morrisson acquisition plan.
