Here's an idea:

how about plugging the iPod (if you really want to use the iPod as a source, but that's another whole issue) into your preamp or receiver just like every other source component out there...

Yep - or, better yet, why doesn't Apple introduce an iPod with a digital output, so it's even easier and potentially better-sounding? I just gon't get the interest in these overpriced speaker systems that are weak and tinny.

If I had to listen to any of these things as a main source for my music, I'd be forced to take up bowling as a hobby instead.

it shits me off that iPod has the ability to put 80gb HDs in for little or no cost, but chooses not to, just to keep us buying.

I agree. I have to carry around 5 Ipods just to have access to my 250 gigs of music. What a mess!

Kinda awkward how the ipod is always docked at the top like a triumphant mountain climber. Seems to me that this is going to look really dated and silly in retrospect - not exactly elegant like some of the bose stuff.

With the PC as defacto storage of music libraries of well over 80 gigs - and the ipod as a traveling adjunct to that - it feels strange that apple hasn't utilized wireless hook-ups between pc's and stereo receiver ala the Roku systems. For me, that's 10 times cooler than portability.

if i didn't have a tivo, a soundbridge or squeezebox would be an immediate purchase.

from my experience bose tend to sound very acoustic - decent for movies, etc but for music i have a hard time listening to their systems. is this bose-ipod thing any different? does it have a nice "full" sound???
