Way to speak your mind, Haq. Someone was standing in front of me on the bus yesterday morning, blocking me as I was trying to leave. I looked at the guy wondering why he wouldn't move. He then fainted... right in front of me. He fell in the opposite direction, so my reflexes weren't fast enough. I was a bit in shock, actually. I just sort of stood there thinking "what the fuck just happened." We gave him room, and somebody got him seated again. At that point, a bunch of us got off the bus and resumed our lives, but it makes me wonder how effective I can be in real emergency situations.

I wasn't in the situation so I'll never know , but responding only gives that douchebag more acknowledgement then he deserves. Every situation has it's own nuance that I don't think translates when retold via the internet.

From what I gather Haq wasn't really standing up for some great ideal as much as giving some asshole moron the confrontation and attention that he wants. I think ignoring these jerks is a better policy, but I wasn't there. I'm sure Haq did what he felt was right and that's really all that matters.

I can see how you would get that impression, but I think that if the guy wanted any reaction, it was of the "yeah, fuck those arabs" variety. He certainly seemed outraged that I responded the way I did.
