That's pretty interesting. The last, and sadly, few times I've been out to a fine restaurant with some colleagues the wine we ordered ended up being 'corky' so I see the advantage with the screw cap. They make a good argument as to why it shouldn't matter, particularly that older bottles were wax sealed so no air could get in.

I like em. Makes opening and guzzling in the parking lot much easier.

For some reason I don't like synthetic corks as much as real ones (Yellowtail, I'm lookin at you)

I agree with this as well.


Thirded, though I've noticed its moving up the food chain as well. Rex Goliath's Cab now has synthetic.

The funny thing is in a restaurant. Like, "Thanks waiter. What is this synthetic cork going to tell me about my wine other than that I'm cheap? Just pour the grapes, Bubba.
