I have not idea the history behind this VH2 list other than its UK. It was made recently but I was not able to access the info, I think they want me to join but I’m not going to.

I think single lists are useless and that is why when Rolling Stone did their top 500 singles, a month back, I didn’t bother to post it and neither did anyone else.

I am surprised at number one because I knew it would be the Smiths but thought it would have been the number 20 song instead. I highlighted the Cure just because but find in interesting that RS named “Pictures Of You” the highest Cure entry in the 100’s and “Just Like Heaven” the other.

Indie is now what writers use to call Alternative. Nirvana kind of stole that term away and made it invalid. Now it looks like the term came out of the 80’s and not just these last few years.

Essentially this is just a list of 500 songs most of which are 'quite good'.

Essentially all lists are of an X amount of things which are "quite good", mixed in with a few things which are "quite bad" in order to stir up some debate. The ratio of "quite good" and and "quite bad" varies depending on the intentions of the author.
