Thankfully, she won't be at SXSW. *crosses fingers*

It's not like Madonna was the one who released "One More Time". Shit compared to Oakenfold, Derrick Carter, Shy FX, T-Power & Carl Cox, she actually makes the dance tent interesting.

ah but derrick carter is AMAZING. saw him spin over president's day weekend... haven't danced that much in ages.

and shy fx? sure. i rather see marky again though.

i'm definitely interested in seeing madonna live.

Madonna live would be great I agree. C'mon she can MOVE it, but at this sort of festival???. Having her there is just a way for her to upstage everyone. Next thing you know, the Rolling Stones and Sting will be at Coachella.

How is this going to work though?

From what I read she's still going to have a lot of the stuff from her normal stage show, so isn't it going to take a long time to set up and pull apart? From an organisational pov it wouldn't seem worth it for a 1 hr max festival slot.

As Madonna, what could she possibly think she has in common with any of the other bands playing.

I don't know. I agree to a point, but at the same time, I think this is a perfect fit. Coachella is all about progressive music, isn't it? Hasn't Madonna always brought a progressive slate to the masses(despite taking it from the underground)? Also, she's a strong female that actually sells records. Of course there's going to be smallheaded pricks at the show, but if they opened their ears, they might actually dig what she's doing. This coming from a guy who dug her latest album, and will be going to her impending tour.

you guys, the point is that she's playing in the Dance tent, her new album is a pretty great dance record. And I'm sure she'll be pretty fun to watch. Tool and Depeche Mode as headliners is fuckin terrible anyway

The point is that she's going to be in the dance tent. You've obviously never been inside one of the tents when it's over 100 degrees. The other point is that there will be a TON of people sitting in that tent all day long waiting for her performance, which potentially may hinder me from seeing any other acts earlier in the day.

I like Madonna, but I don't feel the dance tent is the place for her. You'll find me elsewhere in the polo fields.

Derrick Carter is not my cup of tea. It's the exact same drum kit for freakin hours & he plays a bit too pumping for me. I've never been a fan of his. And now Heather is starting to sound like him

I'm not a big fan of DJ's at Coachella. It's now how I wanna see LLV. I don't know what changed in me but I'd way rather see MIA or !!! in the dance tent than Shy FX playing another remix of Bambatta or Original Nuttah or whatever he's gonna play to remind everyone he should still be relevant.

damen you're jaded! just kidding. i know what you mean about the dance tent, but to be frankly honest, this year has way more of an eclectic lineup than the past few years. not that i don't like to see bands live, but the whole point of coachella is an eclectic lineup- where i could go see st. germain, mos def, and richie hawtin in one setting ya know?

and that's what the rest of you are missing the point on... coachella's not just an indie rock fest- it's supposed to be a festival of an eclectic lineup that introduces you to new music. madonna's got a new record on that's on the dance tip. she'll probably be headlining the dance tent when tool is headlining the main stage.

but yeah, the dance tent when it's 100 degrees is NOT cool at all. however, tania, eddie & another friend told me that they're going to try to make the dance tent twice the size as before. they said daft punk was playing the dance tent and i was not cool with that at all because of past experiences of that damn tent being too hot.

I'd watch Madonna. That is, if something else I liked more wasn't playing at the same time as her.
