at least I hope it's mixed right, I spent nearly four hours listening to the same song yesterday :(

Yeah, I'll bring the two "finished" songs by. God, I hate mixing.

- the music is a little to quiet as compared to the vocals.
- the whole dang song is recorded too low
- the hook isn't predominant enough.

alright, matt, i'm taking you at your word.

first the positive: it's a Good Song, and the guitar work is expressive and complements the song well.

the negative ...but the vocals feel too earnest for the mood of the music. if you have it in you (and if there's any chance you'll record them again), consider tapping your sea and cake (or kings of convenience), medium-is-the-message, insubstantial pop voice for this one, if that makes any sense. the vocals and the drums are both too up front in the mix. i can't abide the guitar sound at the beginning of the solo... that's purely a matter of taste but it definitely does not suit mine. to a lesser extent, i would say the same for the strum right before "you've caught me...", etc. you could maybe use another layer behind the guitar going into the solo, and during the solo itself... those parts just feel like they could use fleshing out.

the lyrics are limburger, but i mean it's a wedding song, what are you gonna do?

yeah, there's no chance I'll be recording those vocals again...unfortunately that's the best I can really do....I suck as a singer

I appreciate the thoughts.

You should get a real singer then.
Would you play with an out of tune guitar? Why use a voice you aren't proud of?

nobody really wants to sing/play my songs, and I've lost more band members in the last several years than I've gained

I just want to get this record done for myself and then call it a career as a bandleader, I like my own stuff well enough and I enjoy listening to the music I've made. I don't know if this record will get done, I'm running out of money and I can't get good mixes

I actually quite liked the vocal approach, as well as the overall song. I'm sure a different mix or mic set-up could help emphasize particular things (I'd prefer more room in the guitar myself), but I think you did a pretty good job here.

Not so sure I'm feeling the drummer's kit and choice in cymbals, but I know how testy drummers can get about their equipment.
