Who's got it off? Or is it strictly a Chicago thing?

If anyone wants to cook some chow, play some music, watch some flicks, lemme know.

Madtown peoples... road trip? come down on sunday, drive back monday night?

Casmir Pulaski was a Polish count who became a national hero in the revolutionary war and later a hero to the growing influx of Polish Americans. There's crap named for him all over the country. I know in Savannah he's pretty highly regarded and people throw Pulaski parties. It's as much of a Polish pride thing as it is a revolutionary war thing. Never been to the Chicago one though so it could be entirely unrelated... but I doubt it.

basically, he got his cavlary unit mowed down by charging up a fortified hill, and i think was wounded and captured, and then his freedom was bought back by the american revolutionaries, and then he pulled the same dumb stunt of charging up a fortified hill, but the second time he got killed, and now I get monday off, so i was thinking about having pierogies in honor of my favorite pollock, Casimir Pulaski.

It's a Chicago thing, and only people affiliated with things such as Institute Days get this day off.

There's a Pulaski Street here in Athens. Other than that, I've never heard of him either.

I think Ivan Putski is my favorite Pole. Pierogies are huge in the Eastern part of Nebraska, all the German, Czech and Polish communities consume a ton of those during their festivals. Kolaches are huge too.

Heard of Pulaski, but don't get a day off for him. Think it's strictly a Chicago thing.

Pulaski Skyway, people, and the tried and true accompanying joke that it was supposed to be a tunnel.

Arbor day is the only weird holiday Nebraskans get off for, I don't think I have planted a tree since grade school.

DEFINITELY on the right track. Up the ante to a threesome with another Polish hottie and it's a deal. After all, Casimir DID get me a paid holiday off, and all it cost him was his life.
