What is the point of these threads anyway?

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. I generally prefer the threads that say something is good.

All the threads do is irritate the people who actually like the bands or albums.

I'm so much smarter than these idiots who like bad music. I'll be performing a public service if I hip them to how bad the stuff they like really is. Though it obviously won't help all those people who just say they like stuff because other people like it--those people are even bigger idiots, even on this board full of supposedly intelligent music lovers who actually claim to have informed opinions about what they like and why--they don't really know what they like, and they don't really know what's good and what's shit! For I, alone among you all, am the true arbiter of taste...the only one of the sheeple on this website who knows his ass from the hole in the CD...I am a god among the soulless worms. Suck the gleaming purple head of my fount of knowledge.

i think getting people to try and defend the shitty stuff they like is damn amusing. i say keep those threads going well into the new year.
