I'm not all that familiar, but I heard a couple Bon Savants songs this weekend that lead me to pick them.

I've listened to a good majority of the bands and seen them live and I pick The Bon Savants as the best band with Pole Position a close second.

Having seen Bon Savants, Come Down, Parts & Labor, and Paper Airplane Pilots live, and eliminating the Bon Savants due to bias, I'd pick Come Down.
Oh, altruism is in the Debutantes. Does that count?

I think I've only heard Riviera and PAP (oh yeah, I did hear a Hop on Pop song on an SP mix).

What do the Bon Savants sound like?

New EP 'Coconut Fantasy' out soon.

We sound like nothing and everything you've ever heard before, all at the same time! That's how concepts-driven we be. Really, we're easily much more accessible than most of the music I tend to listen to, if that helps...

http://www.myspace.com/bonsavants

Thanks for all of the mentions folks - I was under the impression Obner didn't much care for the band. Or maybe it's certain people don't like me much and just transfer that over to disliking the band. Which I can live with.

My vote would've been for Riviera, btw. Them's some good songs...

I like seeing P&L live, mostly because Whiney is the Most Intense Drummer on the East Coast.

Just had my first listen. This is the best band I've heard here. I don't think you listed Foo Fighters as an influence (too popular?) but you do kinda sound like Dave at times. That's a good thing.

I am going to attribute my lack of Bon Savants listening to sheer laziness, and a very wrong assumption of what your band would sound like. It wasn't personally dislike at all—I like the KPH, but I don't like Grandaddy, MBV or the Walkmen, much (aren't you a Grandaddy fan?). You're also a bigger fan of Wilco/Tweedy and Wrens than I am, but in hindsight it was an error in judgement on my part. Good stuff here, and I plan on checking out summore.

should I do a YSI of the CMJ BB Compilation? it's got a good sampling of the bands here, though the tracks are now a few years old...

just let me know...

They have something to pick up?

I like Paper Airplane Pilots, but you all knew that.

I've seen and own:

Riviera 2x
Paper Airplane Pilots 4x (?)
Hop On Pop (2x + Todd Solo a couple)
Poleposition 1x
Graham Cousens 2x
Olde Style (3/5ths) 2x

I also have heard/ own:
German Art Students
Come Down (both EP's)
Belleville (2 cd's plus demo disc)
Bon Savants (mp3s, and a ton of their outtakes)

"Pick" as in "choose in this poll", Mr. Tim.

I watched KPH's video he posted, and I stumbled across another one on YouTube.

I didn't even realize how many bands there were on the board or who the obners are in said bands. I've only recognized a few from this thread and haven't heard one.

I misread your original post as pick up, instead of pick.
oops
