Kev, when I was like 8 or 9, my dad was a liason with other armies all around the world. When he came back from India` he told me that if I were ever offered an all expenses paid trip to India, that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should I take it.

You have fun, tho ;)

That's actually kind of ironic! It IS an all expenses paid trip to India!

Just remember--in India, when you sit down to take a crap, snakes can come out of the water and grab yr nuts.

The Seinfeld ep played off of this nicely.

Your dad is extremely wise.

Fuck India, it's a shithole. If I never had to go there again, that'd be just fine with me, but my parents are planning on retiring over there, and being buried over there.

Have fun storming the castle.

India is one of the few places in the world that has regular outbreaks of The Bubonic Plague.

I wish I was joking. Good luck and be sure to take with you more than just anti-Malaria pills.

I just watched that episode last night. That scene cracks me up everytime.
-------------------------------------

ELAINE: Hi. Mr. and Mrs. Ranawat?

ZUBIN: Please, call us Usha and Zubin.

ELAINE: Oh. Well, Usha..

ZUBIN: I'm Zubin.

ELAINE: Anyway, your son is marrying my friend, Sue Ellen Mischke..

USHA: You're not going to the wedding, are you?

ELAINE: Well..

USHA: Don't go. India is a dreadful, dreadful place.

ZUBIN: You know, it's the only country that still has the plague? I mean, the plague! Please!

USHA: Here's the registry. Send her a gift, and be glad you did not have to go.

ELAINE: Right. Don't go. Send a gift. I think I understand.

ZUBIN: If I had to go to India, I wouldn't go to the bathroom the entire trip.

ELAINE: That's fantastic.

ZUBIN: And I'm not so crazy about Manhattan, either.

I connected in Delhi on the way home from Hong Kong. If the rest of the country is anything like the captial's airport, y'all can have it. It made San Salvador seem modern.

Delhi is their shining jewel, the rest of the country is far worse.

Tell her to beware of orange juice made from concentrate. I was so careful the whole trip, and that's what got me. Ended up with typhus, and was too sick to travel, ended up being there almost two extra months.

Delhi, where they ask the eternal question, "Why invest in a PA system when you can pay some 70 year old harpie to parade up and down the international transit area shrieking out flight numbers at three in the morning."

Y'all are crazy. Lady KPH has been living there as part of her grad school program since May '05, in 2 different climate zones (so, 2 different contagious illness places)...it's not quite this ridiculous, despite Seinfeld.

I will probably be going to town on the Cipro, etc. though.

Current plan is to fly into Delhi, then fly to Lucknow in UP, then head to the Himalayan foothills to some resort for a few days. Then back to Lucknow, etc.

Did you watch "Straight from the Heart"? She is amazing. East Indian woman are some of the most gorgeous women in the world, IMO.

KPH, congratulations! My bf & I hope to make it there one day. I'm sure it will be amazing.
