Same as it ever was.

Maybe some of us are grumpier because of the season. In my case, I'll be in a shitty mood until about June.

Strange, cos I think many of the early "Main Offenders" have mellowed out/gotten bored. And many of the most controversial/fun topics have been tread upon a million times.

Okay, I'll concede that the number of multi-page argument threads have certainly dropped off in recent months. It's hard to predict what makes us all go off on each other sometimes because occasionally we'll get several pages out of a topic that might normally never get more than a half-dozen replies. One that always seems guaranteed to bring out a lot, is a state of the board, "Is Obner Dead?" or "Remember CMJ?" Or make some definitive and outlandish statement about a band/genre of music. "The Beatles - Completely Overrated Crap." or "Radiohead Has Saved Music" or my personal favourite, start ragging on 80s metal.

Interesting fact: 10 out of PopTodd's last 20 posts have been in threads he started.

Examples of this nastiness?

I can't really think of nastiness in a long time any other than everyone dissing on bort's friend when they thought he was a street teamer.

Seems to me that this place has settled into a mood where it isn't mushy and self-loving like it can get but no one has been personally attacking anyone either.

A little sad, innit?

He wasn't street teaming. He was snarky, and not very creative about it. I kinda hope he comes back.

I don't know about sad...as long as it doesn't cross the line into mushy, self-love. If Haq is one of the meaner people around here though (and it seems lately that he is), we can't be all that mean and nasty. Somewhere along the way we became a pretty friendly and respecting bunch.

Plus he plays guitar. And he might have good dirt on Bort. 2 perks.

Bort sent a guy here. He made 3 or 4 normal posts, and then tried out a "personality." He put up a link to his band, and when people didn't like it, he said we were all mullet-having Guitar Center employees. Hilarity ensued.

Thanks dude. I actually did see that one. Read the first page... and then the last page and figured it was all pretty text-book. I missed the "personality" part though. Maybe I should get me a "personality" too.

You have one. And slinging 8th grade insults isn't a personality. Still, I think there was something worthwhile lurking in there. He just chose poorly and then stuck to his guns.

When did you bcome self-appointed czar of what is and isn't allowed.

You, and really you alone, went insane on the dude. If I post something the obs don't like, I usually respond with 4th grade insults, gussied up with the much-loved Gar Speak.

then again, some REAL shit is going on at one of my other boards, involving people cheating other people out of $100k.
