Sorry, no YSI here.
But seriously, how awesome is
"Come Dancing" by The Kinks?

Even the production doesn't suck, and it came out in the early 80's!
What a great goddamn song.
And always overlooked for other songs from their more "classic periosd". I say that this one would have fit in there very nicely.

That album is a bit precious, but it's still the damn Kinks. Which means the quality end of precious.

Though I think "Don't Forget To Dance" is more effective in the mood it's trying to evoke than is "Come Dancing."

I like it quite a bit, but from that era songs like "Art Lover," "Better Things," and "Destroyer" are more enjoyable to me. But "Come Dancing" is definitely a very good song, and the (semi?) autobiographical nature of it is cool too.

I don't know todd. I think its one of the Kinks' worst songs. I'm sure its not the very worst but I can't come up with one I like less off the top of my head.

Its too precious for my taste.

If we're voting for Kinks songs here it's gotta be: "Till the End of the Day" and "Set Me Free".

But I realize we've done that elsewhere before.

"Come Dancing" is one of those songs that I loved as a kid and love now. If I heard it fresh today, maybe not.

Same goes for "Modern Love" by Bowie; it's just locked in and I can't do anything about it.

I love how this thread is about Kinks songs and bagels. Two great tastes that go great together.
