1. Beth Orton - Stolen Car - I've never really gotten into Beth Orton. This is a nice song though. 3/5
2. Cat Power - Living Proof - seems to be a lot of Cat Power love in these mixes so far. I'm enjoying this Americana/lo-fi sound she's got going though. 4/5
3. My Morning Jacket - One Big Holiday - I've heard so much about this band, and have never really listened to them. This is quite enjoyable! 4/5
4. Townes Van Zandt - Rex's Blues - this is very quiet and laid back. 3/5
5. The Be Good Tanyas - Waiting Around to Die - I'm not sure why, but I'm not always a fan of the breathy/trembling female vocal style... it works on some songs. This one's not bad, but probably not something I'd listen to frequently. I really like the music though. 3/5
6. Jolie Holland - Sascha - oh, I like this one. A lot. I'm a sucker for this retro jazz-y sound, and feel like I should be wearing maribou sandals with a satin robe, while I smoke a cigarette. 5/5
7. Joanna Newsom - Peach, Plum, Pear - is this indicative of Joanna's style? If so, be gone. Her voice is entirely too irritating. 1/5
8. Koop feat. Yukimi Nagano - Summer Sun - again with the retro vibe, except this time it's the 60s, and I'm yachting in the Mediterreanean while wearing oversize sunglasses and a Pucci scarf in my hair. 4/5
9. Rae & Christian feat. Dinah Washington - Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby? - I like the updated sound of this one... current, yet still retaining a retro vibe. 4/5
10. Ladytron - Another Breakfast with You - I like this, but it seemed a sudden jump from the vibe of the previous songs. 3/5
11. Belle and Sebastian - Sukie in the Graveyard - I really need to pay more attention to these guys. I don't have any of their albums, but whenever I hear something, it always sounds like something I'd enjoy. 4/5
12. Young and Sexy - The Curious Organ - I hadn't heard these guys before. Very nice. Sounds like something I would turn up in my car while my husband made a nasty face of disapproval. 4/5
13. Sparklehorse - Sick of Goodbyes - Nice and rolling. 3/5
14. His Name Is Alive - Baby Fish Mouth - Interesting, not particularly memorable. 2/5
15. Freedy Johnston - The Lucky One - this one was quite sweet. 3/5
16. Richard Buckner - Surprise, AZ - it was okay. 2/5
17. Nina Nastasia - That's All There Is - beautiful voice. 3/5
I liked everything here, dog. I am somewhat partial to your retro grooves in the middle of the cd, but everything else clicked too. I understand the whole "arc" of a mix cd, in that you start with one mood, morph into something else, and then resolve at the end. This one seems like it started pensive, moved to carefree, and ended on melancholy. Maybe that's how life is, eh? Thanks. 3/5
